Bodog 1/2 NLHE (9-handed)

MP3 $163
Cobalt $323

Cobalt is BB w/ 9 icon_suit_diamond.gif 9 icon_suit_spade.gif. Unfortunately, no significant reads.

Pre-flop:
4 folds, MP3 calls, 3 folds, Cobalt checks

Flop ($5): 8 icon_suit_club.gif 4 icon_suit_spade.gif 7 icon_suit_club.gif (2 players)
Cobalt bets $3, MP3 min-raises to $6, Cobalt re-raises to $17, MP3 calls

Turn ($45): 6 icon_suit_heart.gif (2 players)
Cobalt bets $28, MP3 calls

River ($101): K icon_suit_diamond.gif (2 players)
Cobalt checks, MP3 bets $101, Cobalt calls

Final Pot: $303

Anyone want to take a stab at my thought process throughout this hand?

I am really happy to enter in this site. Poker is one of the online gaming. It is very talented game. In poker game so many persons play with betting. It is almost gambling. It has so many types. Family members also play for fun with this game. We're all new players and we cannot play at 4 tables at once! It's incredible.

Preflop. no need to raise OOP here
FLOP: I probably have the best hand, let's bet.... I might be crushed, but the min bet could also be a draw or a feeler bet w/ a bare 8. Reraise and then we can get away.
turn: we have the best hand let's bet.
River: he's not going to call if we're ahead and he's not going to fold if we're behind. Maybe he'll bluff.

Good Analysis.

Ac-5c is a reasonable hand here though and it hurts us pretty bad.
Board is a bit-draw heavy for me to feel comfy with a big river bet being a bluff.

Y'all analyzed it pretty well.

Basically, from the way the action came down, he's got to have the flush draw. An overpair, set, or straight would've likely put in another raise on the flop or turn. On the river, a good pair is unlikely to bet for value on such a scary board. With his bet being so big, it appears that our opponent isn't making a value bet and likely thinks he has to bet to win.

The only somewhat plausible hands that we're worried about are Ac5c (though I think he'd raise the turn or bet less on the river) or Kcxc (though again...he'd probably check or bet less on the river). I think we're likely going to see a busted flush draw or a worse pair here a significant number of times.

Do you think a made hand (set or straight) on the flop would've played it the same too? Your flop reraise really discounts any flush draw...

You're saying the flop re-raise gave flush draws a good price or should've gotten rid of them?

I think a made hand plays it faster (on the flop or turn).

No, I was saying YOUR reraise makes me know you don't have a flush.

But, thinking more, you would be playing about the same had you flopped a straight or set yourself, right?

With you in the BB and a naked 5 giving you a straight, the only hand I think he could have been playing for would have been the flush. Though your check could have given him the go ahead to bet his K icon_suit_club.gif if he thought you only had a pair

Definitely. That's why I think he's got to be drawing to something that beats a made hand.

I guess it doesn't matter, but I totally forgot to wrap this one up, which I like to do for the sake of completion. Villain had Ac 3c and was quite pissed that I called. "What if I had a king?!"

Considering (by my count) he already had 95% of his stack
in the hand, I'm thinking he would have had to, but really,
he's only got $15 left by this point....lol
