Hi,

i'm relatively new to omaha ( 1 week playing) and i have two questions

1) if you are in late position in a loose 25 PL game , almost everybody limps. You have AAK9 double suited. Some people say that in terms of "points" it's about 50 , so you should raise with it. Other says that you have no low options so you should just call and hope for a high . What is the correct play in general?

2) When you raise in late position, how much do you raise ? do you make a standard raise like hold'em of 3,4,5 BB or do you simply raise the pot ?

Thanks for your answers

Everything that I've read about raising preflop in omaha8 really hammered one thing home, again and again and again

If you are going to raise preflop, you need to know why you are raising.

There is no correct play in general. If a raise would put you all in or let you get all in on the flop, then yes raise there. If a raise will knock out most of the players that limped, then thats a good raise too. If everyone is just going to call then a raise could only be correct if it is for value.

I have no idea if this is a good raise for value or not. It probobly is.

Always just raise the pot.

It really depends how well you play after the flop. If you are reasonably confident post-flop (i.e. can get away from the hand or push your position even when you don't hit perfect) then there is nothing wrong with a max bet here (looking for 1 or 2 callers), to make sure you get the button and to punish whoever wants to play. If you are less confident post-flop then just limp or bet half the pot to build the pot (hoping everyone calls). As the previous poster was getting at, if stacks are short enough to get all-in, you don't mind with this hand. (The all-in after the flop calculation applies more to EP situations than this one).

See above. Try to start thinking in terms of fractions of the pot....it will help you come to terms with the odds later on.

Good Luck
