I am new to poker, at least looking at it seriously anyway. I have played since Jr. High but more using gut insticnt that any theory or strategy.I would like to start down the road to take my game to next level but need a little advice about how to go about it. I have looked into a couple books but have not found what it seems I need. The problem is I would like to play both limit ring games (mostly online) and NL Tourneys and SNG's (both online and in person). Where should I start. Books I have looked at for Limit recommend you avoid NL because it is only for "Advanced" players, but there is too much NL out there to avoid it :D I am playing in the Amateur Poker League and all they play is NL Tourney style. Is the strategy so different that I cannot learn both at once?Is there any good book that addresses both and covers the different approaches to each? Are there any good articles online that anyone could point me to? I was wondering about SS2.I know that one thing I need for certain is a good explaination / primer on Odds and Statistics. What would be my best resource for that? Any suggestions would be appreciated,Paul

For limit hold 'em cash games, I would recommend Jennifer Harman's section in Super System 2. For No Limit Tournaments, I would suggest both Harrington on Hold 'em and Tournament Poker and The Art of War. Good Luck!!
