Advice On This Hand Did I Play It Right

Recommended Posts

In a recent NL Tournament I am dealt KQ suited in late position blinds are 100-200. player in early postion raises to $400 I call everybody elses folds. Flop comes AKK. Raiser checks. I have the set. Since the blinds increae every 10 minutes I want to protect my hand incase he has str draw or a midle pair. I put him on 1010 or JJ. I go all in for $1500. he calls with AA.Did I play this right. I think so.

Yeah, I think that's one of those hands not many people are getting away from. Not that it'd make the outcome of this perticular hand any better, but I think in general you might be better off with a 1/2 pot (ish) raise here instead of the push though. The way I count it there is 1100 in the pot and you have a stack of 1500. If you put 500 in there I think you get more money from hands you're ahead from more often... Seeing that you're only behind AA and AK. Make it look like you're continuation betting ala HOH and hopefully get a call out of some hands that may fold to the push.. just a thought. Maybe I'm wrong though and the push is optimal..
