Sorry I dont have the hand history for this.

HERO ($1100)
VILLIAN (Around $2000)

And 4 other players, cant really recount their stack sizes

Blinds (75/150)
Dealt to Hero in BB [ A icon_suit_diamond.gif 7 icon_suit_club.gif ]
Villian is on the Button

It folds to villain who makes a standard raise to 450.
SB folds

Now I dont have too much of a read on the villain, my notes on him are: he's a slowplayer (checked trips on flop down to the river) and he usually lets go of mediocre hands to a big bet on the river (or maybe he just chases a lot). Anyway, my chip stack is gettin pretty low here (M of around 5) so I need to make some kind of move soon. I thought that this might be a good spot for a stop and go.

I call 300 (my stack is now $650)

Flop: 8 icon_suit_heart.gif 5 icon_suit_diamond.gif 2 icon_suit_diamond.gif

HERO goes all in for ($650)

Thoughts??

I figure he cant really call without some kind of hand since it would be for more than 40% of his stack, and the flop texture seems good, chances are he missed it.

Oh yea and also, I havent really done anything out of line at this table...Ive pretty much been solid and showed down some good hands.

I've called off my whole stack with AK high when i suspected a stop n go. I really dont think you have enough chips to make any reasonable opponent fold. If you had more like 1500, then you can maybe price him out.
The path
of the righteous man is beset on
all sides by the inequities of the
selfish and the tyranny of evil
men. Blessed is he who, in the
name of charity and good will,
shepherds the weak through the
valley of darkness, for he is truly
his brother's keeper and the finder
of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those
who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

With your chip stack size and that flop, that is an absolutely terrible spot for a stop and go (I know that when you decide for a stop and go you are supposed to go through with it regardless of the flop, however....).

With your chip stack, you need to either push pre-flop, or fold. I've folded many a bad ace in that spot (Harrington says Ace 8 is the cutoff)...

You're giving him almost 3:1 for two cards.

That's ugly.

If he has any brains in his head he knows that THAT flop probably hit you just as hard as it hit him...and I think a lot of players would smell a stop'n'go here.

As stated by Petoria, I too have called off my entire stack from the button with AK, AQ, AJ when I suspected a stop'n'go.

In fact, this is the perfect place to go all in when you catch any piece of the flop (or at least a good draw) because a lot of people will put you on nothing and call with AK.

Yeah, you'll get Kx and Qx to fold, but you're beating them anyway.

I'd push pf if he's been stealing a lot of blinds...otherwise I fold.

ya i suppose i needed a bigger chip stack for this to work in this spot...probably shouldve just pushed all in pf IF i was going to play it...lol, my initial reaction was to fold and find a better spot to go all in but then i was like hmmm. I dunno, I just figured that the villain would lay down most hands he'd be raising on the button here, even if he suspected a stop and go.
