I'm looking for suggestions on books that focus specifically on PL or NL tournament situations. I've read the McEvoy/Daugherty book (ugh), the Hellmuth book (ugh again) and am reading through "Theory of Poker" again right now. Does anyone have suggestions?

I don't see many references to this one but tournement poker by david is by far the most important tourney book ever written, in my opinion. Albeit most know this stratigy (gap) it's still a must read and provides a solid ground work for tourneys.

I'm currently reading Harrington on Hold'em by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie. I'm about 3/4 the way through and it's not bad--certainly better than McEvoy/Daugherty and Hellmuth. It should be available in bookstores in a week or so.I would also recommend Tournament Poker by Sklansky.

the mcevoy/daugherty book and the hellmuth book are trash....so i found. a good book that sounds like a match for you is Championship Pot limit and No Limit hold em, by tj cloutier and tom mcevoy. its all about tournament play too, not cash games. im about halfway through it, and so far i like it a lot! give it a try

I have the Cloutier one and the Sklansky one. Another good one is Poker Tournament Tips from the Pros. It's a short little book, but there's a lot of good advice in there. I believe it's by Shane Smith.

Theory is an important book for any poker player but not a specifically tournament-oriented book. Sklansky's recent tourney book is not so good, in my opinion. I think that the appropriate sections of Super System II will be a very good place to start, at least the first edition was a good one for me. The first edition is especially useful, I think, in the local tournaments (buy-ins of $100-$200) where people aren't expecting you to play like that. I look forward to the new edition and to getting Dan Harrington's book.

Thanks to all. I'm working through Theory of Poker, and although it isn't focused on tournaments, it introduces some ways of thinking that I hadn't considered. It's very good, in my opinion.
