I have been active in this forum in the past but kinda stopped posting. I have decided to come back and post a series of hands from recent sessions to provoke some analysis and discussion (some hands that I won and some hands that I lost)Quick background on me: I turned a bank roll of 75 bucks into a thousand over the last year, I withdrew 400 leaving me with 600 to play 1-2 and a plan for the summer to play more and start playing semi-serously. I was all ready to support that river bet but now I'm wondering. All the likely Qx hands are beating us - AQ, QJ, QT. JT plays like this too. JJ probably raises PF. What do we beat that calls on the river? If no hand we beat calls and no hand that beats us folds why bet? Of course it's hard to do this kind of analysis at the table but still ...

SLAP's check this river.I have real trouble folding getting almost 10:1So I need him to call often enough to offset the times I lose two.I may win two occasionally, from a bluffer, but... not often w/o reads.Say he calls 40% (his A9 is too stubborn)If he outdrew me and raises 20%, I"m better off checking behind.In NL it's an easy check behind.This darn Limit though, the risk of re-opening the betting is much less.

33-88 don't usually lead the flop. Q8 is beating us. Unless villain is 50% VPIP Q7 and lower is highly unlikely. There are 4 ways to make A9s. Wanna bet he has one of them?This may be one of those cases where we should only value bet the river if we're willing to fold to a raise.

That's kinda what I was getting at...If we can't fold to a raise, I think it's a check.
