I have been active in this forum in the past but kinda stopped posting. I have decided to come back and post a series of hands from recent sessions to provoke some analysis and discussion (some hands that I won and some hands that I lost)Quick background on me: I turned a bank roll of 75 bucks into a thousand over the last year, I withdrew 400 leaving me with 600 to play 1-2 and a plan for the summer to play more and start playing semi-serously. I fold preflop, but then again maybe I should consider calling raises with suited broadway more often; I still have it ingrained in me from SSHE that cold calling is bad and am not sure in which cases it is ok (it would be better with others in the pot obviously).I probably take the free card on the turn, however that sets up villain to bet on the river, and I probably just fold in that case. I can definately see the argument for betting in hopes of a free showdown, since we have a hand that may be best and can improve in many ways; but villains preflop raise makes it hard to think we are best here. Regradless, I check behind on this particular river.

Without a read, fold preflop.As played, check behind on the river. No worse hands are calling, but better certainly will.

W/o a read I fold PF because of GAP and 4 to act behind us. If table is looser than your average 1/2 I'll sometimes call. If PFR is LAG than yeah go ahead and 3-bet.Flop and turn look ok unless villain is some calling station donk that never folds. Not sure why we're betting on the river.

Dan,SSHE lets you cold call a lotPairs and suited cards in particular.I would call to encourage others..but given its HU here sofar, I see fold/call/3-bet as all arguable.folding is just no fun.

I agree, folding is no fun, and I find myself cold calling with pairs and suited connectors a bit (usually when there was another person or two in the pot at least), but I was thinking I was doing that too much. As far as SSHE goes though, perhaps I am putting too much stock in this one quote, but it does say "If you find that you cold-call as little as three or four times per session (on average), you are cold calling too much." Granted that is for live play and not the internet, so this number goes up, but I have interpreted it to mean that cold-calling is one of the more deadly sins.

yep.but even they say AJs ok in a tight game.unsuited broadeway cold calling raises is huge mistake.

Good point. I will start cold-calling more with suited broadway hands I think.
