That Oakley ad is very new I believe. Less than two days. The PM ad (which I think is nicely muted and subtle) has been there about a month I'd say. I like how it varies somewhat so it's "fresh". I'm a little disappointed, but there's still a LOT less ads than other sites. Plus, access to DN is worth a little noise.I was waiting to see something about a wholesale leather sale.

especially one with as many bells and whistles as this one. i can' t believe people are bitching about DN getting some financial support via ads, especially ads as unintrusive as these. last time i checked, DN wasn't a non-profit organization.give the guy a break - he devotes a lot of time to making this site a valuable resource at no cost to any of you. how about a little gratitude?

I noticed the oakley ad about a week ago, so its not "very new"And advertising pays the bills. If Go Daddy would pay me to wear a tanktop and dance around the room, you better believe I would.
Suddenly I turned around
And she was standin' there
With silver bracelets on her wrists
And flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully
And took my crown of thorns.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

hahaha party city.... not in these days my friend...not that its boring, but certainly not the party city anymore... The college has so many restrictions and what not, its not even worth any greek organizations having a big party... Caught with any kegs and you're kicked off campus, caught with this and you lose regognition... Its gotten boring from the days when I first got there... Eh, i stick to poker anyway

I never said that this site wouldn't accept advertising. However, I've turned down a TON of advertising opportunities if I'm not comfortable with the product or don't personally use it. Oakley makes quality products and I do wear their sunglasses, watches and hats. I just don't wear sunglasses when I play poker because I like to use my eyes at the table to fake fear, fake strength, or do whatever I have to do to make my opponent do what I want him to do. The Oakley people have been very good to me and the rest of the poker players. They know I don't wear sunglasses when I play and are comfortable with that. In the future you can expect to see about 3-4 more banners being added. I can absolutley guarntee that I wouldn't let it become intrusive to the experience here. Not sure if you are all aware but I pay for this site. I've been paying for it the whole time out of my own pocket. I'm totally ok with a couple of banners doing that instead, and I hope you guys are too.

LMAO. I loved this line: "Not sure if you are all aware but I pay for this site." I honestly don't think that people think about that sort of thing all the time. The banners aren't obtrusive at all and advertising is a fact of business, especially on the web. It's a much better alternative than making FCP a paid membership site.

Since I know you wanted my approval, I'm ok with it as well.Nothing wrong with a little advertising to defray the costs of running this site. Especially considering how much time and effort has obviously been put into the website to make it so great and so much better than many of the other poker pro sites where you get an update about how they did in a tournament every couple of months and that's it.

Personally, I don't care about advertising on websites. I like the unobtrusive Goggle ads and even other ads as long as they don't get in the way.The problem I have with the latest ad you put on is that my IE at work now renders the forum menu blended with the ad. On my home Firefox browser it has reduced the size of the forum menu. I wish the designer could make the ad additions more transparent to the overall design of the pages.

To be clear my post was not a complaint, just making a comment. You could have 20 ads and it would be cool. Daniel certainly has the appearance of not being one to sell out and pick/choose his business opportunities carefully. That takes a lot of self restraint because lets face it Daniel is one of the hottest things in poker right now and you know he is getting big bucks thrown at him from every direction.I do like the way Daniel personally vouches for the items that are being advertised. Wonder how long before the 'miracle vitamin' ad shows up?I am surprised that you are paying for this website from your own pocket though. I would imagine thats your own choice and not from lack of sponsoring or website endorsement/hosting offers. Daniels tagline should be ... "Keepin it real"

I didn't even notice it was there until it was pointed out... which I know is EXACTLY what potential advertisers want to hear!

I noticed the other day. I think it is great. Without it, we could never expect the site to grow.

Just a quick question out of curiosity, either for Daniel or anyone who would know, but how much does it cost to run this site (or something similar)? I've heard servers are pricey, and with the minimal advertising I hadn't even thought about who paid for this.

The amount of bandwidth this site gets you can't expect Daniel to pay for it forever. Bandwidth can get pretty MF'ing expensive. And the oakley ad has been there at least a month. Maybe more. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.
thats a nice jesus ferguson you got there.

...make that money, Daniel. And, on a lesser note, hope to bust you at the WSOP main event. BUT...if that doesn't happen, great luck to you.
