So, apparently Yzerman was supposed to announce this week his plans for the 2006-2007 season, and that was narrowed down to his two options: retire, or play one more year. A week's passed without word. So, as we wait for the decision on the greatest captain in the NHL...period, what do you think his move will be?
Discuss, and vote.
Yzerman

I hope he plays one more and gets the send off he deserves.
I know the Hall of Fame is no longer waiving the waiting period for anyone, but Yzerman is a player that should be inducted as soon as he retires.

i definitely agree. it's no fault of edmonton's, but that definitely was a bad way to end this season. and yzerman proved that he's still able to compete.
and yeah, him and gretzky really were the both most deserving players for automatic induction. he's busted his butt for the league this long, he definitely deserves it.

I love Stevey Y. He is what makes me love hockey. I pray to God he plays one more. But if he (physically) can't, I understand. But I would love to see him hoist it one more time. He is the man.

I too would love to see Yzerman play another season, but I don't want to see him hoisting anything.
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.

He looked so much better than anyone on the Red Wings in that Edmonton series. He struggled horribly though. He wasn't even to take face-offs in practice after he got injured.
I dont think he should decide, until he has fully recooperated from the season. He loves the game so much, that I dont think he could handle going out on this note. I know though, that he won't stay if he doesnt think he can contribute.
Should the period be waived so he gets into the hall right away? I dont think so, I believe that should only be reserved for people who were forced to retire for health reasons. Whenever he gets in, I'll be there for it.

The path
of the righteous man is beset on
all sides by the inequities of the
selfish and the tyranny of evil
men. Blessed is he who, in the
name of charity and good will,
shepherds the weak through the
valley of darkness, for he is truly
his brother's keeper and the finder
of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those
who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Health reasons are why almost everyone retires.
