Hi Yall, This is my first post so I hope I don't mess up!I read a piece from Mike Sexton where he asked all fans of the W.P.T. and his new show the "Poker Corner" to write the Travel Channel and plea for keeping the show "On the Air!"As you know Daniel,Annie and Phil are on the show also and we need this kind of Sports Recap show to help make our sport a REAL SPORT in the eyes of the mainstream media!Their pilot show went up angist 2 Baseball Playoffs, 1 football game and the 1st Presidential Debate! Geeze louise it's not fair to cancel this great image show with that competion for ratings! Please GO TO: Discovery Channel and figure out the way to send a comment. Keep trying they make it tough but it wiil work! Thanks to All and have a Lucky Thanksgiving!

Yes I've done this twice so far :D I enjoyed the first one and wanna see more.

I have Comcast cable, and I don't even get the Travel Channel in my area. I moved to new area recently and got really pissed off when I found out it wasn't offered. :x I used to have Cablevision which did offer Travel Channel. I watched WPT for 2 yrs and am really hooked! So far I have placed 2 calls with comcast to let them know I Really want my Travel Channel. Is anybody else in the same boat?

Yes...the comcast devil has taken over here also. I have emailed them repeatedly. Fortunately if I go to the sports bar with a satellite hook up they usually will put it on Travel Channel if poker is on.

The problem with the show not being picked up yet was two fold:1) The ratings. They couldn't possibly have been any good going up againt the Yankees-Red Sox, The Cardinals and the other guys lol, and the Presidential Debate. The Travel channel was being s little short sighted I think when they looked at the ratings alone without factoring in the competition in that time slot.2) The Travel channel may want to say the Travel Channel. I'm not sure they really want to turn the whole channel into a gambling channel. Since they love ratings though, they should realize that not only is the WPT their highest rated show, their second and third highest rated shows are Vegas Casino Secrets and the like. If it ain't broke...

:D Hello Dan, I know your busy with Thanksgiving so I'll be breif. Thank You so much for responding to my 1st ever post on any forum! Like most of us I am amazed at how "down to earth" you are. While saying this I'm still in shock to reply to one of my "Poker Heroes" like it was no big deal after following your career on T.V. and in Card Player" magazine. Kudo's for your award for winning the WSOP points race! I sold New Cars for 25 years and your Toyota is Bad to the Bone. I hope you will show us a pix in Photo Gallery after you complete your customizing touches??? We sound like we're on the same page re: the "Poker Corner" and due to my background in Radio & T.V. I know how the P.C. Egotrippers can act when they have a hidden agenda. Dan, I just want you to know that I like a good fight with the Media and I know Star Trek was saved early on by just 1,500 Fans. The Networks figure only one in 250 will write a e-mail so I like your "implied odds!" If you want me to I'll post your position on every poker forum on the internet because I belive you,Mike,Annie and even the "Bratt Boy" Phil can win this fight! Many Blessings on your upcoming Marriage and I'm sure her parents like you very much. Where would "Captian Kirk" be without a few loyal fans? William Shatner would be a Host on Shop CNBC! LOL!

Is it possible that a similar concept could be pitched to another channel, perhaps FSN? They seem to dedicate a half hour to Fantasy Football and even more time to TNA wrestling in the midday. I would love to see an analysis of the Poker at the Plaza tournament for instance. That was without a doubt the best poker I've seen in a long time. Not only by Daniel, but Ted Forest, Freddy Deeb and Paul Phillips all played great!P.S.~ :?: Daniel, how DID you put Freddy on that A-K? That bluff really hurt him and shifted momentum for you heads up. You were a little shady in your Card Player article as to how you were able to get that read. Thanks! 8)

I have comcast here in Chicago, but I get it... so hopefully If you keep asking, they'll get it to you sooner than later.

I sent in a few emails requesting the Travel Channel. Apparently I wasnt the only one. Starting later this month they are going to add the Travel Channel to the line-up! 8) I will consider this a Christmas present from Comcast. Especially after watching commercial after commercial of the specials they are running for new subscribers.

I found out last night that Concast has poker analysis through their OnDemand programming. If you go through their Lifestyles -> Gambling -> Poker they have Todd Brunson, Matusow, and Slansky providing analysis of some players in a tournament. Very interesting show...

I remebered my password. I was a bit too clever. Anyways. I hope they run it again when they rerun the Championship. If they do we should get the word out and have people watch it. It the only show on the WPT I did not get a chance to tape.

The WPT is VERY excited about the Poker Corner, and I know that the hosts were/are. It baffles me that more have not yet been approved. Anyway, fan support will certainly assist, and I know that the WPT is adding analysis extras to their upcoming DVD sets... If analysis shows are the next wave, WPT has a wonderful head start, and somehow, someway, it will get on the air.

My former college roomate is an assistant producer with the Travel Channel and worked to get the WPT on that channel. I mentioned this to him and he said just what Daniel said...they like the ratings poker brings but don't want to become a Gambling Network. Also, that the ratings were pretty poor for the Poker Corner. Last, one of the top producers with the station said in a meeting quote "Let's not overplay a good thing...analyzing dumb poker moves is a bit much...I love the traffic poker brings but let's not take away from shows that started this network"

Thanks for sharing that insight, mark. What I am worried about is producers and networks who think $ first, quality last will get their version on the air, and offer a second-rate show. I hate that. Like how the WSOP was dumbed down so that 7 year olds could watch the antics... Anyway, if Travel Channel is unflappable, lets hope there is legal room to pitch somewhere else.
