Bad flop is all I can say. Your bet to me would look like a steal and I would probably call with hands, especially the Ax sort.I think a larger bet would have had same result unless you were aiming to push.A smaller bet to 1200 or 1600 would have had a similar result or possibly a fold if the player had poor holdings.Never know, villain may have been dealt a good hand that he wanted you along for like AA or KK. Unlikely but possible.I personally never make my blind plays with large bets as the opponent is always skeptical to if you have a real hand.If player is normally weak with the blinds than you no you are in trouble when they make the call, no matter theprice.gl

Tough flop - a normal CB commits too many of your chips so I can understand the weak post flop bet.Once he min-raises you, I would fold also as that flop missed you every which way and you only have redraws to a Q if you're behind.

A smaller raise gives you more room post flop to play. If you rasie to $1200 then you could make a bet of about $2k to $2500 on the flop. Same amount of chips committed, better information if you get checkraised and more chance of him folding his weak ace.

Exactly - raising another 800 pf will almost always get you the same result as raising 2000.Then your flop bet can be about 800 and 1/2 the pot, instead of 1200 and 1/4 of the pot.As it played, I'd check behind.

Y'all are right, a standard 3xBB raise would've been best.At this point in the tournament, I had played about 5 hands total. AK, AA, AK, QQ, and AJ. And on each of those, except for the AJ, I had raised big preflop and ended up busting several people. I was hoping another big preflop raise would ward off the SB. I re-read therrinn's post on the 180 man tourneys and he was right."The chances that people are paying attention to anything but their own two cards are tiny."

Well except you don't want the SB to fold. You're holding the 3rd best starting hand - you want action. Sucktastic flop though.
