Heads Up Stud-hi

Ok... for those of you who dont know me... everyone but Neck... I'm 20 years old... I go to school in Vermont. I love to play poker. LHE and Stud hi. 2-4 stud and 3-6 LHE. $20 sngs... stud hi and pot limit hold'em.I also play lots of heads up poker with a class mate. We play for a dollar a game. A rotation. NLHE, PLO, Stud-hi and 5 card draw (pot limit). We start with 1000 in chips and 10-20 blinds for holdem and omaha. 25 ante for draw. 25-50 limits for stud. They are good times and the experience is valuable for reading opponents and playing heads up.That all being said... I own in stud. I think I've won 7 out of the last 8. Which is only impressive because we are about even in the other games. I'm thinking of trying heads up stud... but I haven't decided if it's a good idea.One, do any online sites offer heads up stud?Two, with stud being a big time drawing games, is it +EV?I'm thinking yes. Seeing as it is limit... you can control the flow of the game better than say, NLHE heads up... where donkeys just move it in and try and get lucky.Any advice/ responses would be appreciated.James

I think you are giving up a lot of your edge by playing heads-up. You want dead-money in the pot. You might be a better stud player than the other guy, but you don't have near the edge you have in a full game.Just my two cents.Monty

I would venture to say that if you can play heads up Stud live in a no-rake situation, then if you are better skilled then you will win in the long run (though you may have to play for a LONG time to see noticable and pure results.) However, if you try and play heads up online or in a casino or whatever and have to deal with a rake, I bet it'd be pretty tough to make a meaningful profit.

I am not sure if you could play high enough in order to overcome rake. I have played heads up limit poker and I was playing with $10 I think it was .5/10 (this was when DN was playing dream clown) and in about an hours the person I was playing with had $5 and I had $5 the $10 went to rake.

Playing where rake is not a big deal such as private games(with your friend etc), high stakes, or big rakeback means that 7-card stud is one of the best games in which to crush your weaker opponent.It really depends on how transparent your opponent is. The more aggressive and adaptable he is, then of course it becomes more volatile. But if he is truly weak here, this is one of your best games to play heads-up.

I have played heads-up stud at full tilt poker.HU poker is always profitable, if you are significantly more skilled than your opponent.
