The bet and raise before me make this an easy decision, to be fair, and I should probably have just dropped it pre-flop. Nonetheless, that ace could have spelled trouble. Here's how showdown went:*** SHOW DOWN *** (Board [2s Ad Ks 9s] [7h])duckhunter: shows [Kd Qc] (a pair of Kings) Chegga: shows [Qs As] (a flush, Ace high) Chegga collected $1.04 from potAs I thought, I was being out-kicked, even before he hit his nut flush. As an aside, duckhunter apparently believes KQo is a cap-worthy hand. One more for you:PokerStars Game #1314124999: Hold'em Limit ($0.02/$0.04) - 2005/03/06 - 15:04:17 (ET) Table 'Nike' Seat #1 is the button Seat 1: bigmole ($2.49 in chips) Seat 2: Last Bullet ($0.54 in chips) Seat 3: Myranim ($0.71 in chips) Seat 4: varelita ($0.28 in chips) Seat 6: Rainman2004 ($0.33 in chips) Seat 7: GamblinBelle ($2.87 in chips) Seat 8: arlenton ($3.10 in chips) Seat 9: BSherman2 ($0.82 in chips) Seat 10: RobbieV ($1.08 in chips) Last Bullet: posts small blind $0.01 Myranim: posts big blind $0.02 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Myranim [9h 7d] varelita: calls $0.02 Rainman2004: calls $0.02 GamblinBelle: calls $0.02 arlenton: calls $0.02 BSherman2: folds fudgeaddict has returned RobbieV: folds bigmole: calls $0.02 Last Bullet: folds Myranim: checksA free look at the flop. Now this may or may not be the "+ EV" play here, I really don't know. But there's a saying that when a calling station wakes up, look out, because they've got a big hand. I think about it for awhile, decide he has to have the third five, and fold. Looking at the board again, this is actually an easier fold than I thought at the time, as most of the deck constitutes scare cards for my hand. *** RIVER *** [6c 7s 5h 5c] [3h] varelita: checks GamblinBelle: checks bigmole: checksLike that one, for instance. [b]*** SHOW DOWN *** varelita: shows [5d Tc] (three of a kind, Fives) GamblinBelle: mucks hand bigmole: mucks hand varelita collected $0.51 from potHey look, I was right. Sometimes you just have to say screw the math and trust your instincts. Again, I don't know if the math bears this out to be the correct play or not, though looking at it again, I actually think it does (Again, even if I'm ahead here, most of the deck will scare me in some way or another). If you're curious, the other two hands were busted draws--A8o and Suited Slick in Clubs (Not sure why they stayed in after my flop bet..I guess they (correctly) figured the overs were good at that point.).So, thoughts? Critiques? "Come into my game you fish"es?
