Just limped in EP to try to hit a set and get paid....Well I hit my set, and layed it down. With Kyle betting and having us covered, I don't hate this laydown. We're only getting 1.3-1 on this call (if we were closing the action)...which isn't enough to try to chase down a made straight or flush.

Raise preflop. It makes this decision MUCH easier.Not having raised preflop, however, I'd still call here. His all in could mean a lot of things. He could have a made straight or flush, or he could have a weaker holding and think he's protecting it. It could also be a pair and the ace high flush draw, or even just the ace high flush draw. Even if he has a flush or a straight, we have a TON of outs. If he is behind, he's waaay behind. If we include two pairs, lower sets, flush draws and pairs, naked flush draws as well as flushes and straights in our opponents range, we are ahead (probably around 55%). I think we have to call.But seriously, raise preflop. It makes life easier.

I hate laying down sets, because you are always drawing live with them (except for a few cases that can leave you drawing very slim). However, it costs too much to chase here. I would assume some sort of medium made flush trying to force out naked aces here. The suggestions about raising preflop ignore another important effect of the raise (besides helping with the read):By raising preflop you will change your pot odds on the draw later, both by creating a bigger pot AND by making the surrounding stacks shorter, so they cannot charge you as much to chase, relative to the swollen pot. That said, this is a situation where I think you are correct to grimace and bid a sad farewell to your flopped set.

The how to not play JJ forum is down the road.This is the worst way to play JJ, honestly, wtf? ok, sorry, i'll try to be constructively crtical. First of all, RAISE preflop in a shorthanded table with JJ into a limped pot. You wouldn't have been in that situation if you did. Raise to 2 dollars as opposed to letting everyone in for a cheap family pot. In a shorthanded game, you don't limp with big pairs hoping to flop a set. Now, the flop situation is really tough, and very read dependent, I think you're ahead a lot of the time honestly. The 3 dollar better doesnt have a flush and neither does the all iner because he wouldn't move all in with a flush...he'd try to suck ppl in, unless he has 2 3 of clubs or something. I think at those levels, as I play in them often, I would lean toward calling. J Ac is more likley than a flush. Also, you can outdraw on them over 30% of the time when the board pairs or you hit that other jack. Call, assuming this isn't your entire BR on the line. Also, reads would be critical and with reads it'd be much easier to make a decision.Good luck...sorry felt like finsihing it off like that bcuz of smasharoo.
