Daniel Negreanu v. Antonio Esfandiari: A Clash at the Featured TableLog: After a flop of 10-7-5 with two hearts, Antonio Esfandiari bets $2,500, and Daniel Negreanu raises $7,500. Antonio then raises $10,000, Negreanu pushes all in, and Antonio calls. Antonio reveals top set with pocket tens, but Daniel is still alive with the A-K of hearts for a flush draw. But the turn pairs the board with another 7, giving Antonio a full house and clinching the hand, and doubling him up through Daniel. At the end of the hand, Antonio Esfandiari has a powerful chip lead, with roughly $69,000 to Daniel's $11,000.

Short-stacked from the earlier hand, Daniel goes all in with J-10 suited against Antonio Esfandiari's K-9. The flop comes K-9-3, giving Antonio two pair, but leaving Daniel with a gut-shot straight draw. A meaningless 4 falls on the turn, and a king on the river gives Antonio a full house and eliminates Daniel Negreanu from the tournament. Antonio Esfandiari advances to Round 3, where he will face the winner of the Josh Arieh/Ted Forrest match. And that's all she wrote :D

Ouch, crippled by his favorite hand.

So I guess now the moral of the story...Is that Sklansky is better than Iveyand Antonio is better than Daniel.Psshhh.. some of you people are just nuts. As you can see, anything can happen heads up... but keep on your hero sklansky's nuts. Gimme a ring next time he wins an open tournament. Thanks.

How many times have we read Daniel taking a shot knowing fully well he'd have enough chips to get right back in the match. This is what he's doing here. This is good news actually, it shows the confidence he is having against "the magician"

No. The moral of the story is that you should never say that someone is going to "dominate" someone else in a short NL heads-up match. And that you should never say that someone is a 2-1 dog in a short NL heads-up match. At least not until the match is over. Daniel was dominated by Antonio. :D
"Phil Ivey should dominate Sklansky. It's funny that this match was mentioned here as most exciting, when the players in the room were thinking that it was likely the biggest mismatch on the board. Phil is close to a 2-1 favorite to win this match." Daniel Negreanu, shortly before Sklansky beat Ivey

I still think he'd be a 2-1 favorite... every time. I would take Ivey all day long on that matchup... and trust me, I'd come out ahead. And when I have the top player anywhere right now, backing me up... I feel pretty confident in my argument.
