StrippersNBlow 0
It's official. Although he rarely showed up anymore to do a show anyway, Matusow is now officially out as co-host of The Circuit. It's in today's stream. He may record one minute rants, but at this point, who gives a ****. Don't let the door hit you. I've done a 180 as far as Mike is concerned. I rememeber back when he wasn't as well known. I used to like the guy, and stick up for him. I thought he was a stand up guy for doing his time(I still think this, if you know any of the circumstances surrounding his incarceration). This lead me to root for him as a player, and overlook his overall attitude. The only way I can describe it is like being a Dallas Cowboy football fan right now. You can't stand a guy like Terrell Owens, unless he's YOUR Terrell Owens. My attitude has slowly changed though, as this was compounded by his stints on The Circuit(Card Player radio show). Basically what gets me is his attitude towards "lesser" players. Idiot, morons, donkeys, etc. I've been successful in the past two years playing, but I'm not buying in to 10K events. Eventually I'll get my bankroll in order and start playing satellites to get into these tournaments. There's a huge array of skill levels in poker. I love the game, and want everyone to love it. I love it enough so I may know more, and win more than people playing at my current level. I still want everyone to enjoy the game though, and come back. Most people play for fun, and if it's not fun why play? I have slowly grown to despise the people who make it not fun. I don't care if it's Phil Hellmuth or the table captain of a 3-6 B&M game, or a 25 buyin NL table online. If I like something I want you to try it. I'm not going to berate you if you don't like it the same way I do. I like the challenge and the gamble, some people just like the gamble. Not to turn this into a rant about this topic. It's been gone over many times before. It boils down to this. I feel no sympathy for you anymore Mike. A lot of people say you're a great guy, but I never see it anymore. All I hear is the name calling, the constant whining, and the fact you're the unluckiest guy in poker. You're a degenerate gambler, who is wasting the talent most poker players would give an arm for. You deserve everything you get. Give me Gavin Smith and Sebok. Two guys with immense skill sets, who haven't forgotten how much fun the game can be. It's a much more rounded show now, and enjoyable to listen to. I stopped after the first minute to write about this, I'm going to finish the show now The Circuit
bulldog999 0
On the most recent show with Freddy Deeb, Gavin Smith goes off on Matusow for for his criticism of Gavin getting his money in before the flop with QQ vs. 77. Pretty funny.I thought Mike was good on the show, but Gavin and Joe do a great job as well and I won't miss Mike either.
twinboyz 0
Mike is the only guy I've seen that can make the final table of the main event at the WSOP and win the WSOP TOC and still complain about how "unlucky" he is.
StrippersNBlow 0
You have to hear this episode. Gavin is rather pissed at Mike for criticizing him for going bust with QQ. Gavin's explanation of the hand was summed up at the end. "**** you Mike Matusow" Good stuff. Now to see what Freddy "Rocky" Deeb has to say.
alf13 0
Mike Matusow is one of those that forget all the QQ's and JJ's they cracked with AK on his way to the final table, and of course..the one time they donked off with A7 and somehow beat AQ..What they do remember is that they got unlucky because they put their money in with KK and got called by AK. "A damn Ace is right in the door".These type of people are everywhere..and yeah..I think that making the final table of the ME and winning the TOC clearly proves that you are the most unlucky person on the planet. kevin2536 0
I dont know about the circuit, but as far as Mike goes, I believe he is a nice guy. My gf made it down to the Bellagio on Thursday afternoon. After one of the breaks I introduced Mike to my gf (bc he is her fav. player) and he actually took time to talk to us. He was saying how he made a bad move on day 1 and lost half of his stack and that he couldnt catch any big hands today. To which my gf replied, Mike when have you ever needed cards to win? I thought he was very personable and stand up guy.
deviper 0
I thought that the show was much better when mike was on the show. Actually he's the reason I started listening to The Circuit.
Acadiamonds 0
I like Gavin and Sebok, but Matusow is waaaay better as co host imo.
bampote 0
I think Joe and Gavin are much better co-hosts; they have more chemistry with Scott, and they're not as vicious or critical as Mike. Also, they don't waste entire interviews whining about calling off a bunch of chips with AQs, and then start cursing at people when they want to talk about something else. (See the Layne Flack episode from earlier this week.) I definitely won't miss Mike.
deviper 0
I would like to know the story behind mike leaving The Circuit. It almost seems like there might be bad blood between mike and gavin and joe. I did'nt expect mike to do the show for to long, just because of the type of person he was but I would still like to know his reasons for leaving the show.

I like Kevin's post. It's nice that Mike can whine about not catching any cards on an individual basis as well as an internet broadcast.
rogerwilco 0
I dunno. Of course listening to Mike Matosow whine about his bad beat stories, problems with his medication and the same stupid comments over and over again ("Ivey hasn't lost a pot in 5 years", "those players just don't fold anything anymore, blabla") got annoying after a while, but for some reason I still liked him a lot more than Gavin Smith and Joe Sebok.Especially Smith definately is a great tournament player and probably has a lot to tell, and they both seem like nice guys, it just isn't the same without Mike.I will only download the show now if I'm interested in what the guest has to say. rhill6537 0
could it be possible that the reason Mike wasnt on the last few editions of the circuit is that he didnt play in the last few big money tourneys before the WPT and they needed someone who was there?
blueodum 0
I strongly suspect that Cardplayer got sick of Matusow's unreliability and booted him off the show. Not only did he not go to Reno or Foxwoods, which at least gave him the excuse not to do the Circuit, but he blew off the shows at the NBC headsup as soon as he was eliminated, even though he lives in Vegas. The same thing, I suspect, happened for the Bellagio shows. Then there is the constant interfering with what the guests have to say. It would have been fun to listen to Mike and Deeb last night: Deeb talked non-stop - the two of them might have talked continuously at the same time for the whole show. doublemeup 0
I'm pretty ticked off about this. Mike Matusow IS the Circuit. I don't care what anybody says. If it weren't for him, the show would've never got off the ground. I LOVE Mike Matusow. He made me laugh out loud at least 5 times in every show he was in. I was ticked off everytime he didn't show up. I love hearing that guy talk. Hes the Howard Stern of internet radio. Even people who hated him would tune in just to hear what he was going to say this time. The guy made me laugh and his advice was just awesome. I can't say enough about Mikey. These two not funny punks Gavin and Joe suck at being hosts. No offense to them but you can't even compare Mike and those 2 clowns. They're not funny, and they don't add anything to the show. I hope that the Circuit didn't fire Mike because that would be pathetic. Mike Matusow is the Circuit and its really too bad that he walked away. He will be sorely missed. FullMontyM1 0
I enjoy watching Matusow play poker. But if you want to know why he is gone:Listen to the Layne Flack 4/18 show, and I think the answer to the question "why is Mike gone?" will be apparent.Mike literally brought the show to a cat-dying-screeching-record-player-stops halt and they had to take him off the air. If you combine that with a shoddy attendance record, that's a great way to get yourself off a show.Monty

irishguy 14
I enjoyed the show with Mike but enjoy it a lot more with out him. Yes he's entertaining but that seemed to be the only purpose of the show with him. It wasn't poker related radio it was "the Mike Matusow Show" and I found it pretty annoying. I tune in to listen and learn and with Mike there you'd barely get a clear thought out of anyone without him butting in. It was funny the first few shows but IMO got real old real fast. Gavin and Joe seemed to mesh better with Scott and you get more perspectives on strat rather than just the Mike Matusow way.
HangukMiguk 8
"the Mike Matusow Show"i wonder if he could get a site to podcast that.maybe pokerwire would
acesfull333 0
I'm torn on this myself.Mike could be AWESOME on the show... or he could be an ACHOR... most of the time he was great for the show though... when he bothered to show up...It wasn't too hard to see this coming, but I am sad to see him go. I like the show with Gavin and Joe, but it doesn't have the same edge that did with Mike. Listening with Mike as a host is like watching a NASCAR race.. you know the wreck is coming, you just don't know when.... :)I'll still listen to the Circuit, but I'm certainly glad I've archived the shows, so I can go back and listen to those first couple show which were absolute GOLD!!! doublemeup 0
Hey there fanboy, why so much disrespect for those two?No not disrespect, I just don't like them on the circuit. I think they're both very good poker players and may have a funny line or two in an exit video interview but they're not Mike Matusow. Matusow brought a lot to the show and I just don't think that these 2 guys bring more. Thats all. I'm still gonna listen to the circuit but I will definitley miss Mike a lot. Deltha 0
Anyone else find Joe Sebok just a bit annoying? I'm not sure if its his voice or delivery but he just doesnt do it for me. I'll give him credit because he does seem quite intelligent, but his personality/radio presence seems more fit for a host instead of a color guy. There was a funny exchange during the Hellmuth interview when Phil is taking about all the writing he does for newspapers and how it takes up a lot his time... Sebok responds with "tell me about it".. an awkward pause follows and the interview continues. Was pretty funny because everyone is thinking, OK, WTF does this guy write besides his unread blog.
