I'm pretty new to the online poker scene and thought I'd try it small at first (very small). But wonder if it's worth my time. I can't find a game that's not littered with bad beats...8-3 off that make full houses...T-6 off that make a cheap 2 pair...and even the occaisional early position raise pre-flop with the old K-6 suited that somehow makes it to the river with runner, runner. What gives? I know I should be killing these turkeys, but I can't force myself to the "capped" river on a nut draw when I know the idiot to my right raised me with a crazy hand and I can't even guess what it could be.Do I just wait like an anaconda for the nuts, or do I loosen up since it's only nickle-dime?What's your experience on taking these guys to the cleaners for every 5 spot they have? Should I go to NL rings or up a couple levels to .5-1 or 2-4?Thanks.
micros online--strategies anyone?

Smasharoo is journaling an experiment in building a bankroll from $50 to $1000. He's started at the .05/.10 limit and has been going strong. Here is a link to his blog and you can also check the General Forum for daily updates not listed in the blog.http://pokersamurai.blogspot.com/It can be done starting from micro-limit and working your way up. Whether you can duplicate his success or not is completely dependent on you and your abilities. Personally, I messed around doing different and stupid things and my bankroll on Pokerstars dwindled down to $9. So, I started playing ONLY limit hold'em at the .02/.04 level 2 weeks ago. I've built that up to $30 and made the move to .05/.10 level. Is it worth your time? No one here can answer that, except you. Also depends on your bankroll as to what level YOU can start out playing. You mention you wanted to start out small which is a relative term to what you think is "small". If you consider small being $50, then micro-limits are probably the best place to start, if small to you is $600, then you may consider starting at $1/$2. Hope that helps.

You can definitely beat the micro-limits. Sometimes it gets tough, and you go through one of what I like to call "those sessions" where nothing goes right..basically what you described. Basically, just keep waiting for premium hands and jam the hell out of the pot when you get them. For what it's worth, I actually like one "maniac" in the game I play. You know the kind, raises and caps preflop with anything, and occasionally hits a monster, but just as often is showing down king high. I figure if they're that determined to urinate away their chips, I at least wanna be there when it happens so that I can smack them with a good hand. You can read about one hand I played with the bet-whether-you-have-it-or-not type here. As I mentioned there, I didn't think I was chasing just the gutshot as it turned out I was.So keep your head up, keep playing the good hands, and you'll come out ahead.
