Playing a small one-table NL Holdem Tournament with some friends. Four players remain.Blinds are .25-.50. I have about $45 in chips. The player involved in this hand with me has about $35 in chips.I am holding A :club: 9 :D I raise it to $1.50. Player B calls.Flop comes A :club: 3 :) J :D I am first to act, I bet out $3, Player B calls.Turn comes J :) I bet out $10, player B moves in for about 20 more. What do you do?

Call.Early in a tournament, this is an easy fold, but at the end of a tournament, I think you have to call. There's no guarantee he has you beat.

It's a STT with 4 people left. I assume only the top three pay...?If that's right, I fold. Having a read on him would be alot better.

He's got something.. either an A or a J. If it was J, you're beat. If its an A, I'd say 40% chance you're beat.Seems like a fold to me
Suddenly I turned around
And she was standin' there
With silver bracelets on her wrists
And flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully
And took my crown of thorns.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Imo, he has hit something with the second J - either two pair (AA/JJ) or a set of Jacks (JJJ), NOT the boat. If you make either one of your hands you'll win (AAA or :D flush). I don't have any read on Player B, I'd love to call, but if you lose you drop from $45 to $10, a crippling loss. If you fold you're only at about $36, still in good shape. There is $39.75 in the pot, so you're getting about 2:1 to call, but you're only a 1:3 favorite to win (if my analysis is correct and no boat), regretfully I say lay it down.So how badly did you crush him when you called his all-in?

That's a tough one merely because you have to evaluate why you are playing A9 suited. I play Ax suited in NL games for one bet. I play them for the flush and the implied odds that come along with it and to take down a pot if no one else has an A.However, you will only get action on your pair if you are likely beat. You have to figure his action has you on a draw. Do you want to be a 5 to 1 underdog on the river? And you aren't even drawing to the nuts anymore. You only have 9 outs at best and there's 46 cards in the deck. It's not looking too good for you. My ghetto rule of thumb is that if you can't name all of the hands that beat you in your head quickly, you probably shouldn't call. And in this case there's certainly alot of them.
