As always, I'm amazed at the programming ESPN chooses to offer instead of hockey sometimes. Granted it's the Spanish ESPN, but still.

I don't get deportes. I have, on occasion watched the Scrabble Championships. They have Lon McHerron as the announcer. It's pretty cool.

In the last week I've seen paintball, bowling, and sumo wresting on ESPN. But there is no doubt they paid next to nothing to broadcast those. I pray to hockey back on ESPN so I can watch 4 playoff games a night.

The asking price for NHL programming was nothing for a major sport, and they still lowballed it. Just amazes me sometimes...Hopefully they'll come to their senses after the OLN contract is up.

barry melrose has said on a few occasions that during the lockout ratings were the same with whatever crap shows they decided to put in. remember all those programs like stump the schwab and the one where three people compete for their sports fantasy. that being said I love the espn hockey crew and I truly hope it comes back but I dont think there is enough mainstream interest for it to happen

I disagree with this, if there weren't enough people interested in hockey programming, there would be no such thing as NHL Centre Ice. Enough customers purchase that service to make it worth having, so it stands to reason that enough customers would watch hockey and make it worth the $60 million per season or however much. One more thing regarding Stump the Schwab and shows like that, they're extremely cheap to produce so it doesn't matter as much if the ratings aren't high. If you're paying $60 million for 9 months of hockey, you need to sell much more than $60 million worth of airtime (commercials) to make the investment worthwhile.

That blows, I want National Hockey Night back on ESPN...better yet the NHL could start their own television network. The two sports that I pay attention to...baseball and hockey...are the only major sports without their own television networks :club:

I've seen the paintball eps with the big rubber blow-up things all over the field/court/arena?!I think it would be more fun to watch if the players played in different environments (outdoors/old ratted-out building/strip club).Maybe they do, but haven't seen it yet.Monty
