Not even close. Pujols is also a fairly good defensive player....and is AT LEAST as good of a hitter...but probably is a better hitter.

Pujols is the best player in the game right at this very moment...overtaking Ichiro on my list...as he seems to be declining a bit and Pujols is clearly still getting better.

Their HITTING is close. Pujols plays good defense. Ortiz plays NO defense. Are you saying defense is no factor in baseball?? Surely not. Also, Pujols did NOT have a terrible playoffs......as otherwise noted. Ortiz was better in the clutch situations during that ONE playoff run. It takes a LOT more than that to be a better all-around player though. Where did Ortiz disappear to during last year's playoffs???Also, if the game was tied in the bottom of the ninth, I'd take Pujols with no hesitation.

Look at the numbers I showed in the poll thread I created...it pretty much proves Pujols to be better in every single way than Ortiz..with the exception that Ortiz has more RBI's during the past two regular seasons. Even Pujols' postseason numbers are significantly better.

A friend of mine ran into Pujols and his wife a few years ago in San Francisco.Even then, he thought that Pujols looked to be around 30.I've never seen him up close but is he really just 26? If that is his true age, then as long as he stays healthy, the Hall of Fame awaits.

From what I hear...there is really no clue as to exactly how old he is...but he is almost assuredly older than what he is listed....I'd say probably 28 or 29...but regardless....he'll be a great hitter for a LONG time..even if he has to eventually be a DH in the AL.

His profile on MLB.com says he's 26. I can't remember the guy's name, but I talked with someone that played HS and JC ball with Pujols in the Kansas City area and he verified his age. I'm not sure if Pujols has his Ameican citizenship yet, but if he does I would say that he can't have falsified documents.

Since he only went 0-3 16 times last year, I guess he hit a home run in the other 143 games he played. Ortiz is not that much of a liability at first. Below league average, but far from terrible. I'd take a drunk Ortiz over Giambi. Let's not turn this into an Ortiz sucks thread. Let's turn the attention back to the incredible Pujols.
