Al Smooth 0
I'm sitting in my room waiting for my GF to get back from a morning walk and I'm wondering if any other FCPers have come out for the tournament (either to watch, or play).I'll be trying to win a single table sattelite either a little later this morning or tomorrow, otherwise I'll have to buy my way in. Hopefully I'll take down the Single table.Anyway, if any of you are in town, post here and maybe we'll get to say hello! It's always nice to put a face to the name you see hundreds of times on the computer screen. GL, HF, TP, MM!Al

Al Smooth 0
Unfortunately for me, there were no single table sattelites available for the main event since they're going to be starting the daily tournament at 1:00, so instead I just played Blackjack to pass some time. Unfortunately AGAIN, I can't play in the daily tournament because I'm going to a friends house with my GF for a bar-b-q, then to the puppet show over at the Wynn (do a google search for "The Internet if for Porn", that's one of the songs from the show) at 10:00 PM. Maybe I'll be able to get in a single table late tonight when we get back to the Bellagio if I'm not worn out from the day...I don't want to be playing a $3000 SNG if I'm the least bit tired...they give you a ton of starting chips and they can last 2-2.5 hours. I'll keep posting pre-tournament reports if you guys would like, and again...if anyone is in town, (xzanos, the tournament stats on Tuesday) stop by and say hi, Ill post what table and stuff I'm at as we get closer to the main. It was freaking hilarious. Hits on so many taboo subjects that are currently in society. Topics that people think about but don't want to say out loud, and likewise opinions people think about but don't want to say. Highly recommend you go see it, since you already are, a delightful play.Keep us updated for sure

Al Smooth 0
Signed up for, and played in my sattelite. Here's the quick rundown of how it went...- To my right were David "The Dragon" Pham and Greg "FBT" Mueller. To my left were Billy G., That guy from Brooklyn who was at a final table already this season, and FBT's stakearoo (some guy named Shawn). Starting stack is 25,000, but the blind structure is **** and you're at 10x the bb at the 4th level, 20 min levels.- I double up in the second blind level when my 55 makes a set, I check raise him on the flop and my opponent hangs himself when he catches two pair on the turn. - I keep my stack at a very respectable 40,000 for most of the tournament as I'm pretty card dead and out of position if I have something remotely playable...not to mention the all-in fest that happens in these things (honestly, it's worse than online sometimes). - Mueller (4th at the reno event) falls out in fifth place and I'm at about 6 BB's with four people left. I'm in the BB and the SB bets enough to put me all in which I felt was VERY strange with the BB @ 4000. I call with AJclubs, he turns over K7hearts and makes his flush on the turn. SICK!If I win the hand I'm in great position with four people remaining and one VERY short stack to my right. Oh well...guess I'll just have to buy my way in...sucks, I really thought I was playing well enough tonight to crack the table. As for people not knowing what I look like, maybe someone could talk DN into getting me one of those spiffy FCP hats to wear for the tournament...couldn't hurt to have someone in the tournament promoting the website you know. Anyway, hope everything is well with you guys, and I'll post something about what I'm going to wear the first day of the tournament so I'll be easily recognizable to the FCPers in attendance.GL, HF, TP, MM!Al

You think the gf would be all about you trying to win your seat for a much discounted price. Of course if money aint an option then go for it.That's a good question, but here's why. I usually like the single table structure better. They give you more chips (25,000 - 2500), you have less players to fight through (it's a 2-3 hour fight between 10 players instead of a 10 hour fight between 400), and I feel I'm better at a single table/shootout type tournament than I am at MTTs. I'm not bad at a MTT, but if I had my choice, I'd pick 9 other people and try to beat them.I'm going to spend some quality time today with the GF and some other friends who are in town at the pool. We got a cabana by the pool and we're going to just basically just let off some steam and chill out without gambling for a few hours. So ummm...Daniel...any progress on that FCP hat? Al Smooth 0
Well, I bought my way into the tournament today after my unsuccessful attempt at the SNG Sattelite last night. I have a half backer at home (a family member who really believes in me), and I own the other 50% of myself. Fortunately I had that big win on PP last week in the cash games (that I RARELY play) and then aftger I bought my seat, I won about $11,000 playing Blackjack!!! It was just incredible...I'm a press better, which means the more I win, the more I bet. So starting at 200 a hand, I had gotten up to $1200 on one hand of BJ. I get dealt a Blackjack, then press to 1500, get another blackjack, then press to 2000 and get YET ANOTHER BLACKJACK!!! Never gotten three in a row, and NEVER when I had my bets so high. It was absolutely incredible. So needless to say, I'm pretty much free-rolling it into this tournament which REALLY takes a lot of pressure off of me.Now, as for my seeding in the tournament, I drew the second day start (They have two first days in this one for those who didn't know). At first I was a little upset because I wanted to start tomorrow and then have a day off before the second day of play. But I think that having day one off will help a little because I'll be able to see how some of the guys are playing the tournament (not that my day will be exactly like the first). You see, a lot of the pros take a build a huge stack or go home approach on the first day, but in this one, with the buy in so high, the chip stacks being set at 50,000 and the last level of play on the first day (level 5) being 300-600/75, you'd think that it might be different just this time. We'll see, and hopefully I'll be able to gain some knowledge going in that I might not have if I had drawn day 1a.Anyway, I'm rambling on, and I'd rather be shooting craps, so I'm off. I'll be starting on Wednesday at Table 44, Seat 4! I guess I'll be betting the Hard 8 and buying the 4 tonight on Craps!GL, HF, TP, MM!Al
Ralphy 0
al, how many are entered this year. last year it was over 450. top prize over $3 million this year?
Bizzle 0
al, how many are entered this year. last year it was over 450. top prize over $3 million this year? Those numbers won't be available until this afternoon, but over 3 mil is a safe bet. I also assume the payout will be slightly shallower than last year (last year was 100 out of 450, I'd be surprised if it went deeper than 100 this year.
Al Smooth 0
From what I heard from the players and dealers I've talked to, the most common estimate is just under 600 entrants. But they will pay the top 100. Bellagio has the largest pay scale of any tournament...LA Classic pays 5%, most WPT's pay 10% but if they get 400 or more people Bellagio pays the top 100. I don't know what their next cutoff point is for more spots paid, but basically 100 through 51st place will get paid the same thing, then small incriments until the final 15 people where the prize money really starts to jump higher.
