I have to take a business trip down to Florida next week. I'll be spending time in Tampa and in Orlando. Any suggestions for card rooms would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We are number 3 when it comes to the quantity of cards rooms. Wish I could say the same about quality.

If you are in Tampa, play at the Hard Rock. Play tournaments or play
O8. Be aware that on ring games the max bet is $2 and that the betting
is capped at 4 bets per round. Everyone stays in until the river so
stay AWAY FROM THE LIMIT HOLDEM GAME.

When you are in Orlando, you may want to drive out to Cape Canaveral.
Take the Sun Cruz. Here you can find NL, $5/$10 and sometimes a Round
Robin games of $10/$20 holdem and omaha. Its a small cruise ship, it
does not bother me but some people need to take Dramamine (sp?) before
going out to sea.

Hope this helps.

I agree completely with Theresa. I can't stand the $2-2 hold'em games at the Hard Rock. Playing tourneys there is the best fun though! Except for the all women's.......

When I was at the Hard Rock in Ft.Lauderdale/Hollywood in March it was 18+. I had some high school seniors at my table playing the 2-2 while I was waiting for a STT to start.

Don't waste your time.
The poker rooms in Florida are the worst I have ever played in.
And the Hard Rock in Tampa is the worst of the worst.
I was there last week and everyone and I mean everyone smokes....the air is dreadful. And it was freezing cold and outrageously noisey. I wound up with a migraine after 2 hours and had to leave.
Never mind the silly betting rules. Poker in Florida is a JOKE!

Honestly, everything in that "casino" if you can call it that, sucks! Its no fold'em hold'em, deal with drunk old man Omaha HI/LO, and donk fest sit and goes.

10% with a Minimum of $1.00, Maximum of $5.00

The rake there sucks!! I was playing there one time during an 8 hour session and around hour number 6 at about 4 or 5 in the AM, my table was down to like 4 people and the rake killed us. No one really was making a profit. So I suggested that we stop play untill we get more people, the dealer agreed but when the floor manager heard us he told us either to move to a different table or just to quit and wait for a new table to open.

All in all.. if your playing in Florida, either get on the boat and play there or play online.

Speaking of the Tampa Bay area, I would not recommend The Silks Poker Room at the Tampa Bay Downs racetrack. Typical $2 straight bets capped at 4 bets. It's only really good for relieving a couple hundred dollars off the drunks or those that are so engrossed in their racing program that all they can do is call. They do offer Stud, S8B, O8B, Omaha, and Hold 'Em. The Stud games are fifty-cent antes.

They also offer a $40 dollar multi-table NLH tournament twice daily. It's tighter than a duck's *** though.
Life is a game. So fight for survival and see if you're worth it.
