I can definitely understand raising with AJs, however, I don't always like doing it, particularly from early position. The problem I have is that alot of people won't reraise with ak or aq unsuited. If an ace flops, I can get in alot of trouble. Very few people will limp with these two hands, however. Plus I can get away from it much easier.On the flop I just figured anyone with a King would raise me, or else wait for the turn to raise me. I can't get a free card from early position. Someone with a king might act foolish and not bet since everyone with a draw will call the small bet anyway, but since he's right after me if I bet and he has a king, he's probably raising to force out the others.EP called from early position, so he's got something. He calls a bet on the flop from the preflop raiser, that doesn't mean much, but he's probably got at least a draw. Maybe KJ, maybe JT suited, maybe a loose kt suited.I bet on the turn and he just calls. This makes perfect sense to me if he's on a straight draw and just picked up a flush draw. Or if he's playing loose and has the straight draw. Or if he has a king (or even two pair) and doesn't want to lay it down. If he has kj, jt, or even another aj I can't see him not raising here. It just makes no sense to me. He doesn't know I'm not on a draw and playing aggressively. Why wait till the river if he has kj or jt.Then the queen comes on the river and I make the straight. He bets, and throws my world into confusion. Maybe he's stayed this long with an ace and hit the straight draw. At this point I should realize I'm either beat or tied, but I don't. For some reason he slow played the turn, and he's clearly got me beat now. After he re-raises I have no choice but to pay him off and stare in wonder at the pocket kings he shows.

I understand your fear about raising it, but it's AJs. You really need to start raising it. It's a suited broadway baby! AJo on the otherhand, I would be more inclined to limp. Either way, it's a really easy raise PF.- Zach

Well, it wasn't played terribly. I'd raise preflop, no question. AJs is a solid hand and definitely worth a raise. I also wouldn't c/c the flop. Either bet or check/raise.

c/c is good the way the hand was played. However, if we did raise preflop, I'm b/c the flop.
