Is it better to raise or call a bet in early posistion when you have a draw? What I mean is, Player A bets in first posistion and you have 3-4 players to act behind you. Do you just call the bet or raise? i think it depends on how aggressive the players are who are left to act behind you.but in general, i am more inclined to raise with non-nut draws rather than nut-draws. the reason is that i would like to raise and price out competing draws that might have me beat should i make my draw. if i have the nut draw, then i don't mind calling and pricing in other draws to bring along for the ride.

Some of this depends on how strong of a hand you're drawing to. If you're drawing to the nuts, then you'd be more inclined to keep them in the pot, but if you're drawing to a more marginal hand, you'd be more inclined ot bet them out of the pot.

Here two of your outs could be tainted by the flush draw, and you are drawing to the second straight... not sure how much I like the raise on this board with so many yet to act, but it's definately not a *bad* play by any stretch.I think it's really table dependant there, based on how the people behind are acting, but if you get two callers or a re-raise you're really not in a pretty position.

I wouldn't post UTG+1, so I hope to avoid the situation.I would fold to the flop bet. If someone is drawing to diamonds, you're down to 6 outs. We might face a raise from late postion, which will ruin our odds.If I were playing it, I would raise as you did. Maybe a larger amount. A big raise might buy you back 2 outs by knocking out a flush draw.

I think that's why I raised. I figured if I just called I might be letting other draws in and might just make it more expensive for myself on a later street. By raising I find out almost instantly if I should stay in or not. My main goal was to get heads up with the original raiser, and thus gain posistion. If he shows any weakness on the turn, then I can try to steal it from him if I don't hit. In this scenario, the play worked out perfectly to my benefit. Here is how I usually play draws (not all the time, I do like to mix it up).Flush and/or open ended in EP after someone bets: 70% raise/30% calland in LP, it's the opposite.

Thanks and quick question for you. How did you get the suits to show up in the hand history?

I don't think the converter has a setting that works on these forums, but I could be wrong. Also I wasn't necessarily critiquing your play, but it is a little dangerous, especially if you have a LAGish table.
