do we still get to call them bad beats when the loser played the hand terribly to begin with?

you did play this a little backwards anselm I would have slowed down after he called my flop bet. He called the pre-flop raise so I would guess he may have A-x or a small pocket pair that he just flopped a set with and is slow playing.IMO there were just too many ways to get beat to justify taking another shot at the pot on the turn.I definately would NOT have called his river bet.You were in position so you could have checked the turn, folded the river and still be in decent shape.Remember, you only had second pair

I knew I'd see this post from someone. This is a forum for me to complain and whine and vent, and so that's what I did. Calling a raise with 75o and then a pot-sized bet with a gutshot just pisses me off so I let off steam. Is this technically a bad beat? No, but I don't care.As for how I played it: believe it or not, I don't completely suck at poker. I really thought this hand through. Firing into the turn was hard and calling the river was really hard. I thought about it for a long time and easily decided he didn't have a PP and then decided he didn't have an ace. I don't play timid poker sorry. There's a strong, strong case to be made for slowing down but I went with my read and I don't regret it. Does he have an ace? No? Ok then I'm still in control. No way in hell I ever put him on 75 here.
