Is he passive?
Against a straightforward, bad passive opponents, I like a bet/fold here. Against most everyone else, check/call the turn and river.

Seems like most of the time im dealing with bad passive opponents. I bet here all the time
I see some merit in what Screech is saying. If you are ahead, your opponent is drawing thin, and if you are behind, you are. Plus, you get to see showdown, and won't be bluffed of the best hand on the turn.

Bet/fold turn. If he raises, I don't see us beating anything.

except a bluff at a very good opportunity to bluff.
if villain hasn't shown any propensity to trickiness and/or passivity, its an easy bet/fold though.
ife he might be tricky, i prefer a check/call to a bet/call, since i think you always get raised while behind (and by our assumption, never while ahead), and i think even a passive villain often bets this card.

There's a few hands here that may bluff/semi-bluff raise since this board is unlikely to have helped hero. Also, when you bet fold, you sacrifice some of the FH spiking equity since you won't get to see the river card. Another reason check/calling is good here is because you may get a hand like 77 to bet the turn/river.

If im in this hand against someone competent, im probably raising any hole pair below 8's
You get folds from ace high all day long from competent players, and occasionally overpairs.
Of course, people who think like this will not open limp from the button and will almost always raise the flop with any piece of it. If you do bet and are raised, you have to fold.
I'd rather check/call the whole way.
Even passive players have betting reflexes when it's checked to them like it was here. He might bet ace high if you check to him because he thinks his hand is good. After all, he has TWO PAIR with an ACE KICKER!
And if you are behind, you get a chance to improve for the same price as bet/folding.
