ok here is the situation and i'd like to get an honest opinion even if it involved flames..50/1 NL on poker mountain. 10 playersi get delt A-6 o, i'm ready to fold this to any kind of bet...i'm in the small blind. we get 2 calls to me, so i'm thinking i might be able to steal this pot which i am happy to do with a 6....i raise 2.50 to make it 3. BB folds other two call. three handed with a-6 flop comes 8-6-a rainbow. we get a round of checks in. 2 on 4th st. i check again, next guy to go bets 4.50, third folds, i reraise to 9 he calls. 5 comes on the river, i bet 3 bux, he raises me 5, i re raise all in (about 18 bux) he quickly calls. I had him figured for maybe an a-10 something in those lines till this one, and after the call i'm thinking KK AA. he flips up a-9 os i take a nice 60$ pot. One of the guys (one who folded preflop) starts going off on me..."hidden do you always play like that and win, you're an idiot" i responded and everything, i thought it was a smart play....i know this one guy has been playing for damn near 15 hrs so i figure i can take a few bux from him. was this a stupid play? was it a good play?Ira

depends on a whole host of factors, but the real answer here is why did you bother defending your play to these idiots? the all in with A9 is clearly the stupid play here. All you needed to say was "yes i always play like this". guaranteed next time you play a hand theyll put you on garbage and pay you off.

I don't see anything wrong with that play. No flush draw, unlikely straight draw, weak betting from the other players...you knew you had the best hand the whole way through. I don't see anything wrong with the checks to extract some money from someone who might have a decent hand. Maybe I'm wrong (it's a strong possibility), but I think whoever gave you shit about that play was just being a ****.

This is not a raiseworthy hand, and is probably the source of your opponents frustration. I understand trying to steal the pot, but I think you overdid it here, especially with two callers before you. This is the kind of bet I'd try if it was folded to me, but not with callers beforehand. That was a big risk is not going to make you money in the long run. That said, you played it fine after you flopped two pair. Sure he feels he got a 'bad beat' and that you played poorly, but no more poorly than the A9 was played. All that said, enjoy the big pot. Nothing feels like the rush you get when you take down a big pot, or win a tourney.Dev

I think the guy who bet 4.50 on the turn, and was then raised to 9, should have thought about his pair of aces being no good., If he had a big hand, i'm sure he would have pushed all in after your raise on the turn.,, So my honest opinion is, that he played the hand wrong, and u were a little lucky.. But you won.. so who cares

Agree with above. The raise is definitely questionable, but so is his call preflop. Then once you raised him on the flop, he should have figured out he was beat. His whining at you after the hands seems pretty ridiculous. I've seen plenty of people do this same thing -- bluff before the flop, catch two pair, take down a big pot -- with hands like 37 off. At least you had a decent hand to try and steal with.
