mrdannyg 274
I love wright and Reyes...speed, youth, power...but damn, how can you turn down that offer?you'd need to give up almost a whole team to trade reyes and wright.seeing as he is doing that, you'll have to consider that trade. how old are manny and tejada? what kind of guys are you likely to be able to get with a 1st round pick? but since SB is only one cat. and you've got TB, OPS, etc, Reyes is less valuable than in a regular 5x5.I just picked up AJ Burnett off waivers in the FCP pool

mrdannyg 274
alright, i'm drafting a league in a few hours with these settings:Roster Positions: C, C, 1B, 1B, 2B, 2B, 3B, 3B, SS, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, BN, BN, BN, DLStat Categories: GS, R, H, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, HBP, K, E, AVG, OBP, SLG, GS, IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, ER, HR, HBP, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB, K/9looks like we'll have 12 teams.seems like its rather obvious to draft position players first, and that speed is relatively meaningless (too bad Chone Figgins!) but i'm not certain about that. also there are a few negative categories for pitchers.should my strategy just be to pick position player after position player, then just mop up OF and Pitchers unless someone with amazing value comes available, or should i try to grab a pitching stud or two in the early rounds? i never know what to do when there are negative stats.suggestions appreciated. jeff_536 3
danny...14 hitters...5 pitchers??with 12 owners, that's 36sp and 24 rp.I wouldn't draft a pitcher til my last five rounds...hitter after hitter...and because it's so deep, get one of the scarce position guys if you can..V-mart at catcher or utley/soriano at 2B...there will be a TON of OF/P available late. Hit by pitch? Can that really be a category you do research on? Errors? Personally, I try to stick to leagues that are 6x6 at the most, but fantasy sports are all about fun, so if you prefer that type of league, no way I can knock that.Need more paramaters to offer sound advice, like is it a roto league, or a head to head league? Are there maximum innings pitched for pitchers and games played for hitters? I would hope not since games started and innings pitched are categories and that would totally wipe out the need for those 2 cats.If it's roto, then the correct strategy is to overload on hitters in the early rounds. Starting pitching is really deep this year, and you can afford to let it slide until the mid rounds. In the first 10 rounds you should have at least 7 bats, possibly 2 closers, and 1 starter. In a head to head league, it's a little different as it's a better strategy to have decent pitchers on your squad, as you can pick and choose who you want to start week in and week out based on matchups that week.Good luck in your draft, and enjoy it.Mark Mulder (me) for Paul Konerko:Need more info to properly analyze the trade but Konerko is a better pick than Mulder. mrdannyg 274
drafting a 12-team roto with these right now C, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, IF, LF, CF, RF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL, DL, DL Stat Categories: AB, R, H, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, TB, AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, R, ER, HR, K, GIDP, ERA, WHIP, K/BB get this - 25 innings max for pitchers.so far i have 6 first basemen and no pitchers. i have no speed guys either, but there's no max on innings, so i'll try and trade for one. since i'll have 3 bench outfielders better than most guys' #2, i should be fine.just deciding on willingham, mccann or piazza for my third catcher.i do prefer deep roster, 5x5 leagues, but sometimes i like to do weird public ones also. pockets 0
I turned down Matt Clement for Jim Thome (Thome is currently on my team).Does anyone actually think this is close?
MDXS 0
I turned down Matt Clement for Jim Thome (Thome is currently on my team).Does anyone actually think this is close?Nope. I think Clement will have a slightly better year this year than last, but tons of pitchers could give you that. Thome could do some serious damage this year.
mk 11
I turned down Matt Clement for Jim Thome (Thome is currently on my team).Does anyone actually think this is close? No way, Thome is on my team too. You could probably pick up a better pitcher than Clement off waivers. Not close.
