So basically, i was playing in a $5 entry fee tourney over at Ultimate Bet. I know its cheap but thats really all i can afford at the moment. A particular hand comes up thats extremely common..and i almost always go broke on and i figured i'd come to you guys for some help. Its early in the tournament, and i have about 1800 in chips (after starting with 1500). I look down at AJspades in late position and raise to about 3.5 times the big blind, and get two callers. The flop comes J-9-2 with two clubs. It's checked to me and i bet half the pot, and both call. The turn is a complete blank, and player A bets a small amount. I figure him for a weak J. Player B quickly calls, and i figure him for a club draw. I figure i cant let this draw hit, and push in for my last 700 or so. A folds immediately, and B calls. River is the A of clubs, and i lose to K-6 clubs. He tells me he was "pot comitted." Im by no means a newbie, but im also not an expert like smash or a large amount of you guys. Ive won a few of these multi table tourneyts from $5-$20, but this seems to be the beat that i take most often. Is there anything i can do? Any other way to play this hand? Should i avoid it all together? It really seems like the idiots always take down the pots and get the last words in the end. Thanks in response for the feedback and advice, Mike.
help with my tournament hand please!

No you played the hand absolutley fine if he is going to put all his money on that draw then you should be happy, because 75% of the time you will win that hand and double up he just happend to get lucky and thats poker. But you played it right.

maybe I'm too conservative but I don't like to put my tournament @ risk trying to protect a top pair top kicker hand. Just because u raised 3x the BB doesn't mean you're gonna get rid of the J 9 suited or obviously the K 6 suited. Sure it would be nice to win the pot but live to play another day. Better spots will come to put all your chips in the pot.
