How do you make Phil Ivey look like a Donkey? Put a camera on him! (Rim Shot!)

What a TV jinx this guy has! I have only seen him make good decisions in one TV tourney a few years ago. It was that one with John DeAgistino (spelling?) icon_confused.gif

I know he is considered the "best player in the world" by many of his peers however, I have yet to see it.

I am really happy to enter in this site. Poker is one of the online gaming. It is very talented game. In poker game so many persons play with betting. It is almost gambling. It has so many types. Family members also play for fun with this game. We're all new players and we cannot play at 4 tables at once! It's incredible.

The Monte Carlo Millions, yeah, and any other show he's been on.

If you count getting it all in on the turn with: 9-9 against Moneymaker's A-Q on a Q-Q-5-9 board in the 2003 WSOP, then getting sucked out on, then yeah he plays bad.

It's been showing on Fox Sports for a few months. Tivo might've missed it since poker isn't in the title.

A "suck out" is when you get your chips in with the "BEST" and lose. Not when you get trapped by a superior hand.

You can point out all the times he got "unlucky". I would still say that 80% of the time I've seen him get to a TV final table, he busts out 1st 2nd or 3rd. Poker Superstars 1, Every WPT event, World Series, etc.

It takes a great deal of talent to get there time after time. However, when the camera's roll, he loses time after time.

Actually, he's won three televised events over the past year. He won the $120k Full Tilt Invitational (STT for pros) and the Monte Carlo Millions on back-to-back days. He also won the $5k PLO event at this past year's WSOP. As you've noted, he won the American Poker Championship in '04. In the first Poker Superstars, he got 3rd out of 8. In the previous Monte Carlo Millions, he got 3rd.

Look, for a while, I agreed with you that he seemed overrated. He was supposed to be the best, but he rarely seemed to win the whole thing. However, within the past year, he's closed the deal in a number of tournaments, and if you look at the record beyond TV tournaments and his cash game record, you can see why everyone considers him to be the best.

Also, he won 3 bracelets in 2002 WSOP. How many other players in history have won 3 in a year? The only person I know is Ted Forrest, who is also one of the world's best. It is completely insane to say Ivey is overrated and isn't one of the best players in the world.

in this hand, the pot size was significant before Phil hit his 2-outer. all the money then went in on that board though, and then Moneymaker filled up.

I think that if you wanted to get phil to look like a donk, you'd need someone else to help out, because those donkey costumes don't really work well with just one person.

See what I mean?

That's just not very realistic if you ask me.

Yeah that was a good tourney. There was like a couple episodes of just heads up play, very good TV for the serious player. It was at the Turning Stone Casino and I think that was also the name of it.

Er, I wish to note that AQ is not a superior hand against 99. That's actually a coinflip situation with the slight advantage toward Phil's pocket nines. Anyways, he did push with the best hand.

Though two questions I have ask...

How many WSOP Bracelets does Phil Ivey have?

Now, how many do you have?

Done.

Excuse me, but Phil went all in on the turn with a full house over Moneymakers trip Q's. That is getting your chips in with the BEST hand. Moneymaker sucked out on the river getting another Q and a higher full house. bubble_duh.gif
