I'm playing a 20$ 180 person tourny on stars and there are about 115 ppl left, I'm a little over average in chips with approx 2400. A guy in middle position who i dont have a read on raises to 200 every1 folds, I call. Flop comes 9 7 2 rainbow. I check, he bets 250....should I push (btw. he's got a couple hundred less than I do. I'll post results after.

I wouldnt push. You are only getting called by hands that beat you (overpairs). If he's betting with two overs or an underpair you want him in the hand. Just smooth call and let him continue betting into you.If you were shorter stacked or much bigger stacked (where you are happy to vacuum up a few hundred chips at a time with little risk to your overall stack if he calls and sucks out on you) then I would consider pushing. Here I want to play poker and maximize what is likely to be the best hand.

What is our logic for "Wanting" someone in the pot with two overs? If you cold call and check the turn you face either making a tougher choice when he leads out hard after you once again check or you could be giving him another free card. Raise it up on the flop. Any paint could be deadly for our 10s and we need to know where we stand. If he reraises then readjust.

Depends what you think he has...if you put him on ak aq aj you can call and look to either bet the turn or check raise the turn, or just raise him right now and see if you can get him bluff off his money.Like most times in poker, there's no real correct answer, it simply "depends"

You should lead out the flop. Are you going to fold your overpair? I should hope not...but by checking you give him the opportunity to outbet you. Unless your intention is to check/raise....but there's no reason for that on this hand.

Since he raised preflop I did expect a raise after flop, and yes, my intention was to checkraise him. That's exactly what I did, he raised all in, I called and he turned over two aces. I just wanted to see if anyone would suggest to fold in that situation, it is really hard for me to fold on such a good flop for 1010.

He raises pre-flop, he bets behind on the flop and you check raise? Very risky.He pushes your check raise and you call? Insane.

TT is not strong enough in this situation to check/raise IMO, unless your opponent is extremely aggressive (and hence you DON'T expect a high pair from him).Since you are afraid he might have you beat, a check/raise is committing more chips than you need to to get the info you want. You lead out the flop, he will likely raise you. Then you can decide whether to make the tough fold or not.
