They've gotta be a pretty big favorite now.
Hitler was not motivated by hate.
Gervais: What do you worry about, that you've heard on the news?
Pilkington: I heard something about worms getting teeth.

Korea has been by FAR the best fundamental team. Not even close. Whether they have the pure talent to win....I don't know..but whoever wants to beat them had better play a very good game..b/c I am not sure if Korea has even made ONE mistake this tournament. (Okay..that's an exaggeration...but they are extremely solid).
That being said...Dominican Republic is the favorite.

The only thing "embarrassing" about the U.S. is a lot of its fans not realizing that the U.S isn't the ONLY great baseball country in the world and thinking that a team of just superstars isn't necessarily the "favorite" in this tournament and that alot of other baseball countries are nearly as good as us..if not sometimes better.
Not really much of an "upset" in my eyes..it's baseball. Any team can win one game.

Agreed. I've said all along (I dont think ever on here though so dont go searching) that the US is NOT the favorite at all to win this thing.

well, they were the favourite, but i was looking at an american oddsmaker. unbiasedly, they were probably second to DR.
well, they lost three games to teams not even in the upper echelon of teams (Korea has to be considered there now though), so i don't think playing an extra game was their solution. of course playing a longer series would've made a Dominican/US final much more likely.

Absolutely. The smaller amount of games played favors the weaker teams.
Of course, I agree with Koop that the other teams aren't that much weaker. This isn't early-90's basketball where the US is supposed to beat the rest of the world into submission.
I enjoyed this tournament and wish that it were more often than every four years. Spring training's going to be extra boring next year. Hopefully I'll be suffering in the glow of another Red Sox championship...

Spring Training is almost over. That's one good thing about it.

Spring training is like a month of continuous foreplay. Yeah it's good for a while, but you really just want to get on with it.

I agree, but it's still better than watching the NBA.
