I was curious as to what everyone thought of Party Poker. I recently left that site to go to Full Tilt because the suckouts and bad beats are insane and happen all too frequently. I guess the only reason I stayed so long was b/c there is always plenty of traffic (even at 4am there's about 15,000 players). Anyone else have any thoughts on Party Poker?

Well other than saying I agree with you on the suckouts and bad beats I dont' have much to add. Getting real frustrating betting out down to the river with what I know to be, and is, the best hand at that time and getting sucked out by someone hitting his 2 outer. Gets old. I prefer UB myself. At least I can put people on a hand there.

I tried out the $75 freebie offer, but found I didn't have the bankroll to manage the downswing (I got sucked out on 5 big pots over a very short timeframe). $75 is not enough of a BR when the lowest table limit is $0.50-$1.00.I still have some money left in the account, but I don't know what to do with it. It won't last through two more suck-outs at limit. Maybe I should take it to NLHE and wait for AA, KK, QQ, AK. Let it all ride on one flip of the cards. It's not my money anyway. ;)I find Pokerstars to be more fun. Probably for two reasons: 1) I am playing within my bankroll and 2) I have a winning session 9/10 times.

The reason that bad beats and suckouts seem to happen at Party is because ... they do happen more often at Party. Why is that? Because the caliber of play is so bad at Party that you get a lot of people with their money in as big dogs. So when you've got more people drawing to 3-outers, you will see more 3-outers hit.Which is why Party is so great, because of all the people who will call down with bottom pair, draw when they don't have the odds, and play just about anything. Is it frustrating to have your AA craked by 73s by some guy who will play anything because its suited? Of course. But I'm not complaining about all the other times that my good hands were paid off by that same idiot. If you play poker to win, then you want your money in when you've got the best hand, and if you are being sucked out on then that is happening. So shrug off the bad beat, be glad you get to play with someone who will pay you off when he's drawing to 2 outs, and rake in the money.

I must say I've enjoyed playing on Party. I find most the players to be fairly soft and agree that the reason you see so many suckouts is the variety of bad hands people will play. In two days I've double my free $75 playing the $0.50/1.00 limit tables and have had only one losing session on the cash tables. My only complaint with Party is the sngs move to quickly. You only get 800 in chips and the blinds move up so fast you have to get lucky early.

Yeah, that's the only thing that I don't like at all, so if I want to play a sng I play at other sites. I only play the $5 ones, but I believe when you get higher (don't know exactly how high) the starting chips go up, but I think only to 1000.
