So I am playing my weekly home game. We play for ten twenty bucks, people buy back in, come and go, etc.At this point late in the evening I had just shown up and bought in for 10 bucks. My stack was up to around $18 maybe when I got in to this hand.I get in this hand with the chip leader who has like $70 in chips in front of him.I am holding 9 :D 9 :) you know, phil's hand.We are down to 5-handed playing NL Holdem with .25/.50 blinds.I raise it to $2 UTG. The other big chip dude smooth calls. (Important note: I have put in thousands and thousands of hands with this guy, and I did feel he was strong pre-flop. He does this thing where he looks you over real serious when he is strong pre-flop, and his smooth call made me think he MIGHT be setting a trap.)The flop comes 5 :club: 6 :) 7 :) I bet out 5 with the elusive straight flush draw and the over pair.He puts me all in.Call or fold?

Fold, He has you beat a number of ways. Overpair (even one with a club) AK (One club here, this is your best hope, as he would not move all-in with the nut flush)I think the move is to fold, at best he's holding a high PP with no club, and wants to knock you off of the club-draw, which might very well be what happened. You mentioned you were both big-stacks, stay out of his way then, just fold this hand, it isn't worth the risk.

Depends on what you put him on.vs KK or AA, you are a 3-1 underdog.vs AKs (no clubs), you are a huge favorite to win.vs AKo (one club) its almost a coin toss.vs AKs (two clubs), start pulling out your wallet . .. ;)There are significant variations on what could beat you, and what gives you the strongest hand. In this case, only your experience can give you the edge to make this call.Against an unknown, I fold. Better hands to throw all my chips in.Dev

I don't know if it's such an easy decision. To anyone holding a bigoverpair--and you indicated he may have significant strength--that is a very scary flop to see, and he may just be trying to flush you out

If it was me you should have folded because I called your raise knowing that if by some stroke of good luck I hit the flop I could take all your money. If it was Ethan and he wasn't doing that thing where he starts talking nonsense about pirates and hip-hop you should have called because that boy loves his bluffs

It all depends on your read. Like said earlier the best you are at is a coin flip unless he is on a stone bluff and at worst your drawing dead or close to it.

Fold.Push on the flop next time if you think he's got an overpair. The nature of NL is that it's much harder to call an all in that it is to bet one. What hands is he realisticaly going to call with? AA/KK one club maybe, I thinkhe lays down most other hands he might push with not to mention junk he's going to try moves like this with. That being said, your read my have been just horrible and he might have AK clubs.I'd push with it here, easy, and get caled a fair amount of the time.

Once you bet the $5, I think you are pot-committed. You already put $7 of your $18 in the pot, so calling your last $11 gives you around 3.5 to 1, which I think is enough to hope either your pair or club is good. I also don't like the $5 bet if you read him as strong. Either bet $2 and fold to his all-in, or check and either fold or raise if he makes a normal bet, obviously fold to a huge all-in if you check. Betting all-in on the flop was also an option, but I don't like it because you read him as strong.BTW, when you bet the $5, you should have been ready for this and already had a good idea what you would do.
