middle position problems

Recommended Posts

A part of my game that I've really been having trouble with lately involves being in middle position and having everyone folded to me..(I'm talking low limit texas holdem here).. A couple hands for example are A10o and 10Js...what do you suggest?? Fold, Raise, Call?? I find myself calling with these hands and it doesn't always feel like it is the right move..

JT suited in middle position is a smooth call, and call to one more bet if the raise gets action.A10 offsuit I only call with, but raising it isn't horrible since you will be betting when the ace hits anyway.so 10J suited, only call. I don't think a raise is ever good in MP there.A10 off can go either way.

I love JTs or off. Middle position I think call and even call one raise. Maybe even two depending on the table. I have started playing AT a little different. I used to raise from middle and late position but have started to just call. Here is my reasoning. I figure my AT is good against most aces. I also figure if I raise then AJ and AQ may just call. Most of the time the A9 and unders will call to. So when the ace hits on the flop, I'm not entirely sure where I am. If I just call with the AT then most often the AJ and above will raise. I'll still call the raise but will be aware there could be a better ace out against me and play a little more cautiously. I there are no raisers after me and the ace flops, I feel my ace is good.

In my opinion, both are drawing hands, unless you are in late position with only limpers behind - then the A10o becomes a stronger hand.Miss the flop - fold it to a large bet.Dev
