New Movie Reviews

Recommended Posts

OK, thought this might be kool, since the movie critics are douchebags and only like those slow, artsy movies. When you see a new movie out in the theater, post a review here and rate it.I'll start:I saw Firewall last weekend. Harrison Ford never dissapoints. The movie reminded me of Ransom in a way, a lot of action. It was somewhat predicatable, but still very enjoyable. Paul Bettany played an excellent bad guy, very calm and cool. I recommend the movie.....8/10 :club:

I saw Matchpoint by Woody Allen last week. I am a huge Woody Allen fan, and I thought this movie was great. It's a straight drama/suspense film, not funny at all....but it was well acted and well written. And Scarlett Johansen is totally hot and has like 18 make-out scenes. If you've seen Crimes and Misdemeanors, it's like that...except without Woody Allen and Alan Alda. And if you haven't seen Crimes and Misdemeanors, it's ****ing funny and you should see it. woody_allen12.jpg0127.jpg

I saw Sympathy for Lady Vengeance last week. Very similar to Oldboy. It has a more normal structure, but it has the same quirky humour and is equally aimed squarely at adults. Apart from the shocks and the laughs there's a strong story running through it that tugs at the heartstrings. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was hugely entertained, and I didn't come away from the cinema feeling like I had just wasted two hours of my life (as is the case with standard popcorn movies). Classy entertaining revenge movie. I highly recommend it.

Chrozzo, awesome topic.I saw "Freedomland" two weekends ago. Worst movie ever. Apparently the book is good, and the actors try to do a good job (Samuel L. Jackson mofo's), but the movie is so poorly directed it's obvlivious to the racial points it's trying to make.

I saw The Libertine on Friday night. It was interesting. Not nearly as racy or controversial as I expected. I was a little disappointed in that but overall a really good movie if you like period pieces.

Let me start out my saying that going to a movie is WAY too expensive in CA. I took this ***** to see Failure to Launch. What a shitty movie! Worst part: That **** liked it! There were approximately 87 scenes were someone is "comically" bitten by an animal. I’m never seeing that skank again.

Yeah, Woody Allen is the greatest.

Yeah, Failure to Launch looked really good until I saw that every single critic in the world hated it. I might Netflix it, but I'll save the $30 it would cost to see it in the theatres.

The last movie I saw in the theatres was When a Stranger Calls. I usually despise horror movies (especially the mass-produced, make a quick profit ones that are coming out in spades these days) but this one was actually pretty entertaining. Every time I thought I would catch the filmmakers in a terrible horror movie cliche' they didn't take the bait, which made for an entertaining experience because you were always on your toes. The acting wasn't even half-bad, for a bunch of canned "scary-movie" actors. I'd give it a 7/10, worth seeing for sure, but not necessarily in a full price theatre (which you wouldn't anyway, as it came out 2 months ago).

I saw Saw II yesterday. Great movie.I'm also going to watch Walk The Line for the third time sometimes this week. Probably one of my new favorites. And wasn't "When a stranger Calls" based off of a Campfire Story?

That's because it was a remake.

Mars Attacks! sucked balls. Tim Burton (who I hate anyway) at his absolute worst.
she was in that? I thought it sucked too, but if she was in it, then it was great. Its science.and I haven't watched any of the new remakes of horror films, Stranger or Hills, because I haven't seen the originals yet for some crazy unknown reason (I like old horror movies)And anyone wanna make a bet on somebody remaking "Last House on the Left" next? It seems like it would be the next one they'd make.

On which point? I don't follow, usually remade horror movies are 10x worse than original (not necessarily *the* original) ones.

Rented over the weekend...Must Love Dogs- (gf rented) and even she hated itDiane Lane is always a hottie but the movie was totally pointless. Two for the Money ( my pic) and even I hated itGeez a Pacino flick about gambling. It was really bad, never went anywhere and again was totally absurd and pointless. Even great acting couldn't help the movie

Yeah, she was in it (President Nicholson's daughter) and science has failed you here. Absolutely awful movie.

Failure to Launch at no point looked good, ever, at all.Sarah Jessica Parker hasn't made a good movie since possibly Ed Wood (which I haven't seen),

I think he meant that it didn't have all the silly cliche's that most of the horrible horror movies made today do. Thats what I figured he meant anyways.

What? WHAT? WHAT!!!??!!! Holy hell! My world is falling apart. You actually liked that movie? Seriously, one of my least favorite horror movies of all time. I don't even know where to begin with my critique of this thing. Just awful all around. I really expected you to have better taste than this. I'm extremely disappointed.
