This is possible because a passed ball on a swinging strike counts as a strikeout, but the batter is allowed to run to first base in the event that the catcher cannot come up with the ball.I've did that in college in 2001. Good day. Old fart sitting behind me kept saying "A bloop and a blast" ALLLLL game, and also "just throw it down the middle, these guys can't hit," every time the a Sox hitter took a ball. Actually went to 2 games straight that weekend...game 2 and 3 of the season, right after our win. ****ing awesome...I was hoarse as a horse by the the end of the second one.
