I see him playing this hand like two pair wayyy more often than a backdoor flush draw. Therefore, yes I would three-bet it, but I don't think I'd be extremely happy that he capped it.Edited to add: I think I lead this flop, though.

Yeah. Sounds good to me. Since it's a bdfd, I'm give him way credit for it. I would also lead here, since we don't know if/where a bet is coming from.- Zach

this decision is completely read dependant.i love the flop and turn though.
Why is the flop good? Wouldn't it be better to lead and get some callers, and build a pot? We don't even know that a bet is coming, although my guess is a button bet is probably somewhat typical of the more aggressive 20/40 games.Do you prefer a c/r because we could be cleaning out some T outs, folding QT, JT, etc perhaps?I don't play 20/40.- Zach

Easy 3-bet.

You're right. Leading out is best. Not necessarily to build a pot, but as a semi-bluff to pick it up right away.Once he checks though, the raise is perfect. It gives Zim control of the hand, and he probably has at least 11 outs, and may have 14.

I checkraised because I checkraise almost every hand I will play when I limp in the blinds. The players at this level will usually pay some attention, so I usually checkraise with very strong hands, as well as draws. I am assuming the most likely bet will come from the button, and when I checkraise I can knock out Button and the other limper, making it more likely I can take the pot away on the turn. At this level, someone is almost always going to bet at this flop, so a checkraise will work most of the time.

How is leading best? this isn't 1/2. he can take the pot away on a later street without hitting his draw because he makes this c/r.

This makes sense to me. A flop bet really only has value if everyone calls or if everyone folds. The c/r makes sense if it gives you more fold equity (and for metagame purposes, as you said), and if the flop does check around, it's really not a big deal.

I think the 3 bet on the river is the way to go. I expect he hit middle/top pr on flop, but due to your c/r wasnt sure where he was at, and decided to c/c . i suspect he,s holding A-7/9.. hitting the ace on the river, giving him 2 pr. he assumed his 2 pr was good. the runner-runner flush didn't slow him down due to your flop agression. If he had slow played a set you would expect more action on the turn. if you had just called the flop then maybe you could suspect the flush,(maybe he limped with 2 high spades and decided to peel one off), then call the turn. But your c/r should of prevented that occurence. Yes i think the raise is the best play in this situation.

I would almost always 3 bet this. When I make a hand, I bet it. If the other guy made a better hand, good for him. I think 3 betting this has more long term value unless you have a very strong read. Sure sometimes he will have the flush, but I think more often he doesn't. Of course I don't play 20/40 so maybe life is different there.
