Please critique my play here.Im dealt A :diamond:K
UTG + 1.Dizz has called a lot of my raises everytime Ive raised. I decide to limp in so I cna isolate some action instead of raising from the beginning. Ive been raising every time Ive had a good hand, so now I want to switch gears some how.> Dealing Hole Cards> the_raf folded> Binbs called for $0.20> React1 raised for $0.40> _Alec_, you have 10 seconds to respond> _Alec_, you have 5 seconds to respond> _Alec_ did not act in time and was folded> Aris68 folded> otto_75 folded> adizz_26 called for $0.30> Mawest folded> Binbs raised for $4.20> React1, you have 10 seconds to respond> React1, you have 5 seconds to respond> React1 called for $4> adizz_26 called for $4> Dealing the Flop(3 :heart:5 :diamond:2
)> adizz_26 checked> Binbs bet for $5.20(at this point I just want them outta the pot. I know Ive got a lot of outs, but I decide to fire a bullet to see where Im at and take hte pot right there)> React1, you have 10 seconds to respond> React1, you have 5 seconds to respond> React1 did not act in time and was folded> adizz_26 called for $5.20> Dealing the turn(7
)> adizz_26 checked> Binbs checked(At this point Im sure he hit one of the cards on the flop, I just cant put him on a hand since he called such a big raise.)> Dealing the river(5
)> adizz_26 checked> Binbs bet for $5.20(Here I decide that I might be able to push him out by betting big again, He musta hit a pair or possibly missed a draw.)> adizz_26 called for $5.20> adizz_26 shows Two Pair, Fives over Deuces(5 :diamond:5 :club:2 :diamond:2 :heart:9
)> adizz_26 wins $33.90 with Two Pair, Fives over DeucesAll input is appreciated.

Unfortunate board, but that happens. Your play was ok, but you've got to realize that when you limp, you'll get bullshit people with bullshit hands who just might benefit from a board as crappy as that.

ok, i'm not meaning to sound like an arguing ass, but limping with AK isn't as bad as everyone says it is, DEPENDING on the game. doyle brunson advocates doing it with AA/KK/AK in super/system btw, as well.the idea is that if you're in an aggressive game, you can be sure that someone will raise behind you, and then you can reraise to isolate the person since these big hands work best heads-up. this is mostly powerful in NL because you can probably double through.that said, if his game was aggressive and he wanted to switch gears as well, his pre-flop play was fine, especially considering how aggressive he got once it came back to him, instead of slowplaying them for an extended period of time.my only criticism of this hand is the river bet. you have a marginal hand, ace high, so you must understand this:1. you can only beat a draw2. you can beat no other hand that has as little as a pairnow consider this... you bet aggressively on a completely ragged flop then checked the ragged turn. that shows weakness, it's a free card play because you are not sure that you have the best hand anymore. any half-decent player would sense the weakness on that check turn and would come out firing with any decent hand on the river.however, he checked to you on the river! either he has a weak hand--a missed draw was a possibility as you said--or he is trying to trap you. in BOTH these cases, checking for a showdown is the right play.i hope you realize why that is.in the future, i strongly advocate questioning the motives of your actions before you do them--why am i raising, why am i betting, etc. in this case, your answer was that you wanted to push him out of the pot, and you should have understood that that wasn't a good play considering the completely ragged board as well as the analysis of his and your plays.hope this helps, aseem
