Cubs RHP Wood to have surgery on right kneeAssociated Press
Wood's surgery will take place Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Wood, 28, had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder last Aug. 31 and was not expected to be ready for the start of this season. He's thrown off the mound a couple of times in spring training, testing his shoulder.
An All-Star in 2003, Wood was 3-4 with a 4.23 ERA in 21 games last year. He was slowed by injuries all season, missing about three months while going on the disabled list three times.
After a 15-8 victory Friday over the Seattle Mariners, Cubs manager Dusty Baker said he was optimistic about Wood this season.
"It's better now than later," Baker said. "He's been working out real hard on his lower half all winter, so fortunately this is the time of year when he shouldn't be set back too far."
Wood threw on the side Friday and will do so again Monday before his surgery, Baker said.
"It's just the last few days that he's been complaining that he can't run," Baker said. "Hopefully, it won't be too long. It doesn't appear too serious."
Wood has been on the disabled list nine times in a professional career that began in 1995 after he was the fourth player chosen in the draft. He is 70-54 with a 3.67 ERA and 1,286 career strikeouts in 1,109 innings.

I can say it....YIKES.
Koop made a good point in another thread about Kenny Lofton....he was the main catalyst behind the Cubs run in 03...before they nabbed him they were a .500 tired team.
We traded up to Corey Patterson?
Can you say YIKES!

It's always minor, Koop. Ramirez bowed out of the WBC, Hammi, Prior's shoulder. What do these guys do in the off season. Zambranos "Email Elbow" WTF.
Just saying.
Like Dominos every year......& with all that free money Hendry had to work with. Maybe some help at the deadline.

This does seem to be a pretty consistent trend with them Cubs. Dusty Baker's gonna be out the door after this season..or maybe even before that.

Yea, I was rooting for old Walker to win a world series last year as I knew it was his last year...even though it was nice to see a Chicago team win one...just the wrong Chicago team LOL.
In all honesty..the Sox earned it with team play. Couldn't believe how low the ratings were for the whole series. The games were all good.

Name another.
What??? I don't see what this has to do with anything. Them moving to a new field is not gonna be the reason they lose the division..if they lose.

Because the media saw that neither "THE SOX" nor "THE YANKS" were playing and acted like it was the end of all mankind. God forbid neither of those two teams make it this next year, otherwise we'll have to change the rules or something to help them get there again......jesus...MLB wishes it were as competitive as the NFL so bad....they'll never be as big as the NFL again until they get a salary cap.

Agreed 100% "I got the Sunday Ticket....I got the Sunday Ticket, Come on over Peyton" Gay song, I know.
I haven't run the numbers but would like to see the stats. I know in football it works very well for me. An extreme example, I bet against N.O. all last year (not a great example) & the Bears when they played in Champaign (or hell, the Bears most years).
I do remember the Padres complaining about how deep right field was (especially with their line up).

Wild card is a possibility if the young infielders and the bottom of the rotation (beyond Sheets and Davis and Capuano) can step up
