KowboyKoop 0
Is anyone going to watch this?? I'm gonna watch it just because I wanna watch baseball..but god, this event is being held at the wrong time...here is further proof....http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/worldclassic...tory?id=2348211

Jadaki 1
I'll watch it if I feel the need to take a nap.Baseball on TV is like ODing on Nyquil.
Azreous 0
It's better than the Outdoor Games.I don't mind it all that much, actually, but you're right. The timing is terrible, which is why the participation has been mixed.

I think you gotta do it during the offseason or something......but whatever. I'm gonna watch..just to get a much-needed baseball fix.

I think you gotta do it during the offseason or something......but whatever. I'm gonna watch..just to get a much-needed baseball fix.Same here. The real question is, what's the best timing? Do you toss out a couple weeks during the regular season (and eliminate the abomination that is the All-Star Game), a la NHL? Maybe after the World Series? Dunno where I think it'd work best.I'll watch it because I can't get any spring training Diamondback games up here, so it'll be the best baseball I can find until April. ramalamadingdong 0
I look forward to it, as I do soccer's World Cup.As for the timing, events such as this in any sport are questioned regardless of when they are staged.

Even girls who aren't all that cute by themselves get 10x hotter doing the boom run or log roll. I have no idea why, but it's worth sitting through 2 hours of guys with chainsaws or Dock Dawgs just to get to the women's boom run. Cute girls in shorts on logs...mmmmI should really STFU now. Might be a bit odd...but just find a warm-weather site to play the whole tourney at and I think that would be best.

MDXS 0
I'll be watching some. Beats the usual spring training games. Nothing's worse than watching Boston's scrubs take on Minnesota's scrubs 15 days in a row.
mrdannyg 274
i really think this event is friggin great. as for the timing, i think its about as good as it gets. you can't do it after the season, since no one will play, and everyone is tired. doing it in the middle of the season runs into the same problems hockey had, with lots of people feigning injuries, or actually getting hurt and being out for the stretch run.this way the guys will be in shape april 1, and get off to a great start. the guys will be tired in september, etc, but i have little sympathy for that.frankly, i think this event will be amazing. there's so many great teams, i can't wait to see them play. the US vs. dominican? it'll be like an all-star game, but with better players who actually care.can't wait for these games man

I think holding the event in January would be better..gives them a couple months off after the World Series..but still a couple months before the season starts.

Might be a bit odd...but just find a warm-weather site to play the whole tourney at and I think that would be best. The problem then is that the players might not be ready to go...the idea of spring training (agree or disagree) is that the players would be rounding into game shape anyways.I'll watch, cause there's nothing else on.And Canada's gonna win! Ha, no Russell Martin and no Eric Gagne kinda screwed you guys. Then again, what's the point of having Gagne to close out games if you never have a lead? ;-)
DonkSlayer 1
Soccer does it right after their regular season.Unless you play in the Stupid MLS and start in April instead of Sept.Ugh, I love, love, love soccer but I can't stand the MLS.DR smeared Venezula...Ortiz hit two dingers....and neither team had one starter that I had not heard of. It could be rough for the US...
aadams_22 3
I will absolutely be watching this...I love baseball and I have listened to all but one game so far from the WBC this year...and hopefully I won't miss anymore. As for soccer...isn't that used as corporal punishment in some states?
aadams_22 3
Puerto Rico and Panama on now.

It could be rough for the US...i think the game was pretty close. DR had the two big innings, including the 9th. their pitchers just looked more comfortable, which is surprising. if dominican pitches like they did today, the US will have lots of trouble.canada vs south africa game starting now. south africa plays baseball? who knew.
