Every weekend i play poker with some friends. 2nd place gets his buy-in back and 1st place gets the rest. 8-12 people usually play. With this payout structure, 1st place is the really the only place that matters, and I usually outlast everyone until its heads-up. Those 5 mins of heads-up play is the only thing that matters. Those 2-3 hours that i've been outlasting people mean absolutely nothing.Any ideas on how I should play heads-up? like starting hands, etc...
Hey, I don't have all the answers in life. To be honest, I've failed as much as I've succeeded, but I love my wife, I love my life, and I wish you my kind of success.

No where near enough info. Playing heads-up is playing your opponent not the cards if you have a much bigger stack down to a smallish stack, playing almost anything all-in with a very small stack.

Not true, if you have a bigger chip stack than the other guy you are golden. Maybe you should look into not just outlasting the other guys in the tournament and play to win instead. Also, tell your friends that the setup for payouts in the tournaments sucks balls.

If you average about five minutes heads-up, any advice given is futile anyway..

Those 2-3 hours that i've been outlasting people mean absolutely nothing. so building your stack so you have good position heads up make no difference whatsoever
