Thanks to those of you who voted ... the voting was tied at:Raise MinimumandRaise All-In If you missed the original post, here it is, with how the hand actually played out at the end ...This weekend, we were down to 6 players (from a 240 player field) in a local $250 buy-in $50,000 NL Tourney here in Northern Michigan... places 6-10 paid $610; 5th:$3K; 4th:$6K; 3rd:$9K; 2nd:$15K; and 1st:$24,000I've won the weekly $50 NL Tourney twice in the past month at this same casino. (Daniel will appreciate this:) Most of the field is from Grand Rapids (his girlfriends hometown) with not a lot of big tournament experience, and I'm the only local left. I was chip leader at several earlier tables with some of those left, including final table chip leader when it started over an hour ago, and everyone believes I am playing tight aggressive. At this point, blinds are 10000/15000 and will go up to 10000/20000 before they get to me. I'm down to 85000 chips, the button to my left has 90000. I believe I have a really good read on everyone at the table this hand, and after the first two fold, the guy on my right (50000 stack) calls the BB. I'm certain he'll fold to a big raise, and my read on the guy to my left is he might have a hand to call the BB with but not much more. The blinds both have less than 40000 chips, are in survival mode, and I believe have no playable hands.I look down to see pocket 77. What do you do?HERE'S HOW THE HAND ACTUALLY PLAYED OUT ..........My thoughts were this ... 1. The only guy who can bust me is the guy on the button.2. The blinds will cost me 30000 in just 4 hands.3. My reads, which I stated already.4. If I raise minimum, the button guy might come over the top to steal forcing me to fold the best hand I've seen in a long time, so I don't want him in the hand. Therefore ... I pushed all-in ... and after some thought ... the button called me ... the guy to my right who limped in, folded. The button had AToff ... WTF ?!?! ... how the F does he make that call ??? He has to put me on Ax with X > Ten, or a medium to large pair! I can't believe he called with that! The flop came 863 ... Damn, I thought ... I coulda limped or raised minimum and then pushed on the flop ... oh well ... still probably well ahead. The turn was a 2 ... still safe. The river .... you guessed it ... a TEN !!! ............ AAAAARRRRGH !!!This guy eventually took first and the $24,000.I asked him afterwards ... how do you make that call with AToff? He said: "I don't know. I guess the oxygen wasn't making it up to my brain"MY THOUGHTS AFTERWARD ....... I should have considered these guys hadn't had much big tournament experience and were likely to do the unexpected with the unexpected. I should have just raised to 40000. THE LEARNING CONTINUES ... AND I STILL LOVE THIS GAME!Thanks to all who responded!t1
