What Happened To My Player Notes?

Recommended Posts

I just logged on for the first time in a couple of days and all the notes I had on players are missing? I recognize some of their screennames, but I no longer have notes on them? What happened?

Hi Ouch, did you change anything on your computer since you noticed that you had your player notes such as do a system restore if you're using Windows XP ?As an experiment put some notes on players as a test, log out and then log back in. See if the notes are still there on the players. If they aren't there then I would suggest uninstalling and then reinstalling the FCP software. That won't bring back your notes but it should allow you to make new ones.If you're using Windows XP you also may try a system restore to a point where you know you had the notes to see if they're still there but that is pretty drastic and you may lose information in other programs that you don't want to lose and it may not even help.

I didn't make any changes. Are the notes stored locally? That may explain it. I was playing on a different computer than usual. I am able to make new notes; they were there when I logged off and logged back on last night, but that was still on the 'new' computer. If they are stored locally, can I sync them somehow between my desktop and laptop so they appear on both? Which files/directory should I copy if so?Thanks

Hi Ouch, yes your notes are stored locally on the computer that you made them on. Usually the download software stores Full Contact Poker files in your Program Files folder.Within the Full Contact Poker folder there are 2 files that appear to relate to player notes. The first is PlayerNotes.dll which I don't think contains your individual notes but rather contains the programming for note taking. The other files is in the resources folder and is PlayerNotes.irf . I think this is the file that probably contains your individual notes.I'm not a techie but that's what makes sense to me since I did an experiment and made a few notes and the PlayerNotes.irf file was updated by me doing that.I'm not aware of a way to synch the notes between the 2 computers but I'll put the question to the Network and see how they respond. I doubt I'll get a response until after the weekend is over now though since they are in Europe.

Okay, that makes sense. If the .irf is a simple text file, then I/we could simply copy and paste the info within to sync them.If not, then copying from one computer to another would delete the notes on the 2nd computer (replacing them with the notes from the 1st).I'll experiment.

Okay, the .irf files are just simple text inside. So it should be possible to simply copy the notes from within the files to keep them in sync. This will end up being a bit of work to do manually. Maybe I'll try and see if I can automate it somehow.

Thanks for the information, let us know how your experiment turns out.
