Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cxPreflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 3:club:, 3:heart:. UTG calls, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls.Flop: (10.50 SB) 9:spade:, 3:spade:, A:club: (5 players)BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls.Turn: (8.25 BB) 3:diamond: (2 players)Hero bets, MP3 calls.River: (10.25 BB) 9:club: (2 players)Hero bets, MP3 calls.Final Pot: 12.25 BBI think i wanted MP3 to re-raise me here on the flop to protect against the FD. Is the c/r better or worse? Any other way to get more value?I know you guys say how i play quads isn't that important compared to other things yada yada yada, but my game has improved in marginal situations a great deal, so now I'm trying to extract max value out of top two pair and sets and the ocassional quads.

Leading the flop is far and away better than c/ring it.Once the turn comes, you just gotta keep betting because there is no indication that your opponent will bet it for you. He may be on a flush draw and this may be your only chance to get one more bet out of him if he doesn't hit.Against aggros who will almost always bet when checked to, you can c/r the turn. This usually isn't applicable unless you are playing a six-max tard though, as a 0.5/1 game is generally full of passive players that are afraid of betting. Thinking outside the hand:There are generally a few criteria that need to be met to screwplay and get extra value out of your hand:-Your opponent needs to take the lead from you (though not always the case, cite third paragraph)-The board needs to be relatively drawless (decreases the likelihood of a free card play)-Your opponent must be fairly aggro-You must be able to mathematically discern that the missed bets you forgo by not 3-betting/capping will be more than made up on a consistent basis on the bigger bet streets. This of course applies to HU pots. Multi-way, the strategy is a bit different, with concern to relative position to a likely better in relation to the rest of the field. When the criteria isn't met, it's almost always better just to lead the action yourself.
