Dubey 1,035
I am looking for some input on how I played some of these hands. I am not very experienced with NL cash games, and it seems as though every time i do try to play, I run into some horrendous luck.I decided I'd try it out over the last few days, and I've been running into some very tough hands. luckily, I've managed to counter a lot of these losses with some winnings, so I am not too far down in this current NL venture.hand 1, 2: the 99 handshand 1:Hero Dealt 9 9 in MP. hero has about $59. 3 folds, hero raises to $1, all fold to BB who calls.pot: $2.10Flop: 4 7 8 Villain bets $2, Hero raises to $6, Villain callsTurn: 7 Villain checks, Hero bets $4, Villain calls $4 and is all-inRiver: J Villain shows A J Hand 2:Hero dealt 9 9 on button. Played it fine. Hand 2:Hero dealt 9 9 on button. Hero has about $502 limpers, hero Raises to $1.50, Sb folds, BB calls, limpers call.Flop: 3 4 5 BB bets $1.50, MP1 raises to $3.50, 1 fold, hero reraises to $10, BB folds, MP1 calls.Turn 5 MP1 checks, Hero bets $5, MP1 calls $5 and is all-inRiver: A Villain shows A 6 Again...if you read villian as weak/on a draw..you played it fine. However, you should be aware though to not overplay mid pairs such as these..b/c you will run into TT and such sometimes too...but here you played it pretty good it seems. Hand 3 and 4, TPTK handsHand 3: Hero is dealt A K on button2 limpers, Hero raises to $1.25, blinds fold, 1 limper folds, 1 calls.Flop: A T 6 Villain checks, Hero Bets $2, Villain raises to $9 and is all-in, Hero callsVillain shows TTVillian doesn't have enough here to really scare you...unless you have a super read, you pretty much have to call just 7 more. Villian will likely do this with a wide variety of hands..with only AA, TT, 66 and AT beating you, while you could also be up against AQ, AJ, A9-A7, KQc, KJc (or offsuit for those two against a donk...), and even hands such as KT, QT, QJ.......Hand 4: Hero is dealt A Q in CO. 2 limpers, Hero raises to $1.25, BB calls, 1 limper folds, 1 limper calls.Flop: A 9 4 BB checks, hero bets $3, MP raises to $7 and is all-in, BB folds, Hero calls.Villain shows 99Same as above. Lots of hands probably push there for only 7 more....not many beat you...just tough luck. Unless you have a real good read..probably have to pay this off. Hand 5: scary boardHero is dealt 8 8 in sb.1 limper, button mini raises to .50, Hero calls, BB calls, limper calls.Flop 8 T Q Hero bets $2.25, BB folds, MP raises to $5, Button calls, Hero re-raises to $29 and is all-in, MP calls, Button calls.Turn: T River: Q Pot is roughly $75MP mucks A K Button shows 9 T and wins with full house T's full of Q's.This one seems off. A 10c is on the flop and a 10c is in the button's hand...I am especially interested in your input on my flop p[lay in the two 99 hands, and the 88 hand, as I was unsure of how to proceed in those two hands.Seems to be tough luck for the most part. However, don't post results when looking for analysis on hands...get more honest results. Also, be sure not to overplay hands such as 99 when the flop is all unders. Decent/good players usually are only aggressive on these flops with sets or overpairs themselves.....in my experience anyways.
CobaltBlue 662
These all look fine, Dubey. You recognize that they're bad beats and intractable situations. Don't question your play of them. I do want to echo what KK said though...be careful with middle pockets on low boards.
Dubey 1,035
thanks for the input. Yeah, I guess I went a bit crazy on the two 99 hands, but my opponents short stacks played into my thinking a little bit too, I guess also to my demise.on the 88 hand with the scary board, do you push to the raise and call, or flat call and push safe turn? (ultimately I would have lost all of the money here anyway as the 9Tc would have called with trips and a flush draw on the turn)
Silverstein 0
Hand 5: scary boardHero is dealt 8 8 in sb.1 limper, button mini raises to .50, Hero calls, BB calls, limper calls.Flop 8 T Q Hero bets $2.25, BB folds, MP raises to $5, Button calls, Hero re-raises to $29 and is all-in, MP calls, Button calls.Turn: T River: Q Pot is roughly $75MP mucks A K Button shows 9 T and wins with full house T's full of Q's.I am especially interested in your input on my flop p[lay in the two 99 hands, and the 88 hand, as I was unsure of how to proceed in those two hands. How does Button have the ten of clubs when the ten of clubs is on the flop? Dubey 1,035
hmm, I guess I had a red 8, and the flop was 8 Tx Q Sorry, was posting it from memory, just knew it was 8TQ with two clubs and I was up against 9T of clubs and AK of clubs. Thanks for pointing it out.
CobaltBlue 662
on the 88 hand with the scary board, do you push to the raise and call, or flat call and push safe turn?Depends on my opponents and stack sizes. It's a very draw-heavy board, so pushing the flop is probably "safest" in terms of protection. If I know my opponents are very donkishly aggressive though...I might go for a check-raise on the turn.
