please help my limit game...

Recommended Posts

I've always been a NL tourny kinda guy, but lately I've found that the 2/4 LHE on Stars is soft as hell. I've had a few good runs over the past month and I am looking to improve my limit game. I know I could very easily just read a book (probably Sklansky's) and I am in the process of doing so, but the problem is that I feel I have learned most of what I know through experience. I have been playing NL Hold 'Em for 2 years and I am a half-decent player, throughout those two years I have read dozens of books but still feel that most of my success has come from gettin my ass kicked over and over again in different situations. So let me offer up a few scenarios that I hope you guys can help me out with.1) AK (suited or off) in late position. Raise before the flop, zero board...better in front of me. Call, raise, or fold?2) A10 on an A-6-3 board. Better in front. Call, Raise, or fold.3) SMALL POCKET PAIRS BEFORE THE FLOP a) bet into me, late position. call or raise B) called to me. call or bet.4) AA on a rainbow board of 2 4 9 7 9. Caller the whole way, I'm in early position. Do I save a bet on the river and just check...or bet?I understand that I can't learn very much from just posting here, but I would like to improve my game through discussion and none of my friends really get into limit games. I understand the basic premise of limit hold em and I pride myself on being able to save bets when I can.I should also note that I usually only play the 6 max tables and I play one table at a time.Furthermore, do you guys buy in with your whole bankroll? Or a suggested amount? Any input would be greatly appreciated...thanks guys.-Stan

Your questions are way too general to answer. Go buy and read Small Stakes Holdem. I would recomend that you don't start out playing 6max. I pride myself on being able to save bets when I can. Think more about getting extra bets than trying to save bets. Saving bets is important too, but in general I think its better to lean the other way. Furthermore, do you guys buy in with your whole bankroll? I buy in for 50bbs. It doesnt matter as long as you have at least 12bb at the start of each hand. If your playing 2/4 have at least a 1200 dollar bankroll. More is better. You are going to go through periods of thousands of hands where you just lose and lose and lose.
