Hey everybody, Hopefully this doesnt come off as whining, because that's not my intent. Rather, I'd just like to get some advice from you guys. My name is Michael, im 20 years old, and have been playing for about a year and a half. I dont have a full time job, so i dont make enough money to play extremely high buy in tournaments, but i consider MTT's my specialty. Ive done very well in them, having won a few $30 & $20 MTT's and cashing consistently. My problem is that these days i dont have a lot of money to put into my bankroll because of car insurance, and other shit like that. I decided that i'd play some cheap sng's ($5) to get some money for bigger buy in tourney, and play some $5 entry fee MTT's for fun. The problem is that i've been absolutely getting DESTROYED at these games. The SNG's especially. I consider myself to be at least an average player, but it seems that i cant help being beaten by what i would call bad plays. Ive been constantly sucked out on at these tables, and then yelled at for making bad "reads." Its unbelievable. Id just like your guys' take on this, what im doing wrong, etc. Should i move up in more expensive sng's? Play cash games (though not my forte at all)? Im lost and extremely frustrated. Again, i dont mean to whine as its something ive been known for, lol. Any response of any kind would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Mike.

It's kind of hard to answer your question because you don't really cite any real examples of your play on these SNG's. Assuming you are playing perfectly on these tables, I would say keep at them. If you are playing perfect tournament poker then you are probably just getting an unlucky string of cards and this will eventually iron itself out. If tourney's are your forte then go ahead and try to make your money there. Personally, the easiest way to make money is to play limit holdem, however if you aren't good at cash games then you probably won't want to do this. I would say get better at this way of making money, I don't think a lot of people make their money playing tournaments and I think the reason for this is because it is a whole lot better to play cash games.Good luck with whatever you do and keep up the grind.
