I recently played in a 20+2 tourney over at Partypoker, where about 500 people entered (which is actually low for pp, because it started at 2:30 am), and was doing quite well. I had won a few key hands and just had kept pressure on stealing blinds and so forth. I lasted into the money (top 60 spots) then just continued to watch others drop out while i maintained about the average. Then with 20 people left, i've got 25000 in chips which is about average, and blinds are 1000 2000. I got dealt AQ in 3rd position. I decide i'm gonna raise with it because at this point there has barely been anybody calling preflop raises, and i figure i can steal blinds here, and if someone just calls instead of reraise i most likely have the best hand. person to my left limps in i make it 6000. folds back to limper, who waits a bit then calls. At this point i figure he has a low-medium pocket pair. flop comes 2 5 5. Now if he has a pocket pair on this board i figure he has to raise to push me out, and i will have to fold (the pot is 15000 at this point) He checks however, so now i'm thinking he may just have a j or a 10, something like that. So i go ahead and raise 10000 thinking for sure he's gone, but alas he reraises me all in(i have 9000 left at this p0int). I decide he must have that pocket pair but the pot is about 47000 and i need to take the chance to outdraw him if i want any chance in this tourney. So i do, he flips over pocket twos for the full house, cruel fate deals me a q and an a on the turn and river and i'm out in 20th. Thinking about it I'm not sure if i'd play it any differently if I were in this situation again, except i probably would have raised more like 7000 on the flop so that if he reraised me I could fold and still have chips left. Just wanted to get some comments on how you'd play this situation. This is my first post here and sorry for it being so lengthy.

I like the raise preflop, and i like the amount of the raise. I don't like the amount of the bet on the flop, it doesn't leave you any options, if you get called or raised. I think betting 5000 would keep you safe. Really a tough situation though. I want to say raising more preflop would help, but I would hope the amount there would get out 2's.

selfish and the tyranny of evil

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those

And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Yeah I realized after this play that the bet didn't leave me with any options, i would have rather bet probably 5000-7000. I think this was the my problem with the way I played it, but honestly when he checked to me I thought i most likely had the best hand and was playing against an AJ or A10, because i really didn't think he would call me with two's (5's were a possibility but i just couldn't worry about that)Oh well lesson learned, that mistake won't be made again. I'm gonna try to get farther in another tourney tonight.
